synopsis

Jetting to Martinique for a modeling assignment with three of Europe’s hottest magazine photographers—Gustave, Fabian, and Leon—should’ve been easy, breezy beautiful. Never did I expect to look up and see a hole in the ceiling of our plane that was bigger in size than my Birkin bag.

Shit! We’re nose-diving toward Eden Island. I pictured how my New York Times obituary might read when I’m gone, “Taddy Brill, Manhattanite, dethroned descendant of the Austrian House of Brillford royalty, dies at age eighteen, penniless, unloved, and a virgin.” I swear this crap only happens to me. Suddenly, Leon pulls me with Fabian and Gustave. Adrenaline racing through me, our bodies clung as one. We prepared to…crash.

The Undergrad Years is a New Adult contemporary miniseries about first loves, independence, and everlasting friendships.

Carla’s Review:

*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie’s Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars for Yours Truly Taddy (The Undergrad Years) By Avery Aster!  If you are a fan of the television show Sex in the City, you will love this series!

This book focuses on Taddy.  On the surface, Taddy seems to be one of the fortunate ones.  She comes from a wealthy family, but as the old saying goes “Money can’t buy you love or happiness”, and boy is that true for Taddy.  At the impressionable age of 13, her parents dropped her off at boarding school and never once looked back!  Her mother is an alcoholic obsessed with maintaining her role in society.  When her “father” finds out that Taddy is not his biological child, he drops her like a bad habit.

Once she is old enough, she seeks emancipation from her parents who are only too happy to comply.  She makes a deal with them- the only thing she wants is a trust fund set up in her name to help pay her college tuition.  When the time comes. she is shocked to discover that her trust fund is empty.  To earn tuition money, she takes a job modeling in the Caribbean.  She is extremely nervous, so she decides to take her best friends with her.

This was a fun and quick read!  I enjoyed watching Taddy’s confidence in herself grow as the story progressed!  Another great read by Avery Aster!
