Book Description:
Free will makes us human.
Choice makes us individuals.
Love makes us unique.
Metin Sevim has it all. At the pinnacle of international soccer playing success, he has managed to craft a perfect world for himself along the way.
When fate strips him of free will and the ability to choose his own path, he retreats from everyone and everything, destroying his hard-won career in the process.
Dragged back from the brink by his desperate family, Metin reluctantly agrees to coach the Black Jack Gentlemen Detroit soccer team but remains debilitated by memories and loss. When a surprising friendship emerges, it renews his passion for life, providing much needed solace… and extreme complications.
A saga of family dynamics and gender politics that cuts across cultures and circumstance, Red Card illustrates the human capacity for forgiveness through the life of one man as he attempts to rebuild his shattered existence.
Stephanie’s Review:
This story was quite interesting to me how the author put it together. The first half of the book was of Metin Sevim, a Turkish soccer player, playing a few matches in America then attending a formal gala where he meets the love of his life. He actively pursues her and they have a whirlwind relationship/marriage/family. They’re so in love and it shows….though her sister does EVERYTHING she possibly can to break them up, keep them a part. She’s constantly telling Metin he’s a P.O.S. and despises him with her whole being.
Tragedy strikes and Metin loses everything. He turns to alcohol and women after women. Until his wife’s sister is asked to pay him a visit. Their chemistry is so different from that of his with his wife. Melanie and Metin are scorching hot off the walls attraction. This wasn’t the case years prior.
I don’t want to spoil this book for you, but wanted to give you some of the story heads up. This story had me so wound up I had to stop and read something else so I could get my emotions under control. You know a book is good when that happens. This series of The Black Jack Gentlemen is good. I definitely recommend you get your hands on these books!!!
