Virginia’s Review
Salt Water Wounds is my favorite book by Jen Foor so far! It’s a sweet story of second chance love. It’s the story of Buck- a man who lost his wife- the love of his life- and cannot move on even though it’s been years. It’s also the story of Alice- a woman he has known for years. A woman who has liked Buck for years. They both have issues- his getting over the death of his wife and her dealing with a crazy ex and lots of problems. Can Buck let go and open up his heart again? Can he find happiness and love again? Can they overcome the obstacles in their way?
The prologue starts out strong and emotional and pulls you in. I loved the fact that the characters are older than ones I typically read about. They have been through all of life’s ups and downs and have survived. Buck is very sweet. Some may say he should have gotten over the loss of his wife already since it’s been years. But it’s not always an easy thing to do, so I get it. I think Jenn showed real life with the way she presented Buck and his loss. It’s not easy for everyone to move on. Alice is sweet but a bit much at times. She seems pushy and like she has her eyes set on Buck and won’t give up- which is kind of true. But she grew on me- I think she just had so many things in her life that were a mess but over time she redeemed herself.
The story is told in dual point of view and is well written- it’s easy to read, perfectly paced and flows well. An emotional rollercoaster of sweet moments, heartbreaking loss, funny dialogue and a lot of drama, Salt Water Wounds is a great book to start the series.
