I am just not even sure where to start with this review. Shockingly this was not a five star read for me and I am usually shouting read Lily White from the mountains. Now do not automatically think this is a bad book because it is not. It is actually good but I just had the hardest time getting into it and staying there. I can no pinpoint why and it is driving me bonkers. This is a story told from the present time in a prison interview room while Vincent is on death row and about to be executed in three days. These interactions are between Meadow and Vincent. However Meadow has Penny’s diary and it will flash back to Meadow retelling the story from Meadow’s point of view and from Vincent recalling the past. I do not want to give anything away but I will say that Vincent had a bet with his friend that he could train any woman to be his slave and he picked Penny who was homeless and had nothing but he clothes on her back off the street. I do not want to give anything away so that is all your getting out of me and I am still not so sure the ending is what I think it was. I keep going in a different direction and you will see what I mean when you get there. If you like a book that will leave your mind in a mess then this is the book for you. Usually I am all breathless but I just didn’t have that moment with this book. Like I have said it was me and something about the book. If only I could figure that out I’d have discovered a lot of things today.
