Renee’s Five Star Review
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars. The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart. We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars…until we both got swept away.
I am going to go ahead an warn you that your going to need a box of Kleenex beside you while your reading this book. I do believe a book that moves you this much is good for the soul even if you end up looking like a hot mess by the end of it. It’s worth it. This is the story of Koti and Ian and it is equal parts heartbreak, forgiveness, discovery, and unconditional love and second chances. It all blends together in one amazing love story that your not going to want to miss. I am so in love with these characters who met each other as children and then again later in their life. They have both sacrificed so much in their lives and those sacrifices have led them back to each other but they are not the same people they were at all as children. Life has not been easy for them, especially Ian. But it has given him a daughter that loves him more than anything in this world. I don’t want to give away to much of the plot of this book. I went into it basically blind and I think that is the way you need to approach this book. The description of the book from the author doesn’t give away much and I am not going to either. Just know that you should buy this book and read it right away.
A Texas native, Kate Stewart lives in North Carolina with her husband, Nick, and her naughty beagle, Sadie. She pens messy, sexy, angst-filled contemporary romance as well as romantic comedy and erotic suspense because it’s what she loves as a reader. Kate is a lover of all things ’80s and ’90s, especially John Hughes films and rap. She dabbles a little in photography, can knit a simple stitch scarf for necessity, and on occasion, does very well at whiskey.
