The only thing she wants is to know why Danny left, but that answer isn’t coming. Ev tries to stop asking why this happened to her and fights to pick up the pieces of her life.
She knows she can count on the one person who’s been by her side since childhood, her best friend, Clark. He’s the one to catch her every time she falters. His encouragement keeps her from giving up. Love Burned Deep – Cody and Rachel had a wonderful marriage despite Cody’s past with an addiction to drugs. He didn’t keep the best company then and one of the women he used to spend time with couldn’t understand Cody was clean and married to the love of his life. She tried to get his attention many times. Rachel had had it. She wanted Cody to do something about this woman who threatened their marriage. Rachel didn’t want to seem like the jealous wife but as a female she recognized when another woman was trying to take her man.
I think the author did a great job in such a short story explaining the trials and tribulations this couple went through with this woman threatening their marriage at every turn. I would have liked it to be longer, just to draw out the story more, but it gets strait to the point this way.
Taking My Love – This story explains what happens between Evelyn, Danny, and Clark. Evelyn and Danny are living together and a couple in love, so she thought. One day she returns home to find all of Danny’s things gone. No note, nothing. She tries to call their friends and his family to see if anyone has heard from him. No one is telling her anything. Clark is Evelyn’s best friend and has been since they were kids. He steps in to help her heal after Danny ripped her heart to shreds.
I gave this story three stars because I thought Evelyn’s character was all over the place whiny and wishy washy. Not my favorite kind of female lead. The story was written well. Some parts might have seemed rushed, but it read quick so it wasn’t too bad. I felt bad for Clark in this story as I felt like he was used, but then Evelyn made up for it in the end.
