Blurb:
Samantha and Mason are together. Everyone knows it. Not everyone is dealing with it. While Mason’s ready to give them the middle finger, there’s one not going away. Her mother. Threats are issued. Ultimatums are given. Even blackmail is used, but only Samantha can put a stop to Analise. However, when a trauma from her past is triggered, she may not have the courage or strength to do what’s needed. If she doesn’t, Mason’s future could be destroyed.
Review:
If you remember your high schools days you might say they were filled with drama. That’s certainly true in this case of Fallen Crest Family. However, the drama was brought on by the parents not the high school students themselves. What a switch, huh? If you have not read Fallen Crest High you should read that first as you’ll be totally lost reading Falling Crest Family. It is not a stand alone book.
I “stumbled” across FCH (Fallen Crest High) last year and thought I’d check it out. It turned out to be a pretty awesome story. So much so I have been waiting for Fallen Crest Public (FCP) to follow up with FCH. FCF (Fallen Crest Family) would be described as book 1.5 for me. This takes place in the summer months between the school year. Samantha has to decide where she’s going to school in the fall. Will she continue at Fallen Crest Academy, where she’s been attending, or will she follow her boyfriend, his brother, and friends to Fallen Crest Public?
As mentioned above, the parents of these high schooolers were the ones causing such havoc in this book. Sam’s mom to be more specific. Analise didn’t like that she didn’t have control over Sam anymore and that Sam would rather go to Mason with her problems than her mom. It’s no wonder, I wouldn’t go to my mom either if she used my issues against me just like Sam’s mom does. Analise also thinks she can, and has, picked Sam’s friends for her in the past. This is no longer the case.
Analise shows her true colors during this story. I’m hoping James (Mason’s dad; Analise’s fiance) will get a clue and leave the woman high and dry but it doesn’t seem like he will.
I thought this book was great, as usual. Tijan has portrayed the characters well and has even brought crazy into a new light with Analise.
There are sweet moments in this book as well with Mason and Samantha. They are the “perfect couple.” Of course it takes a bit for the guys of FCP to accept Samantha, and the girls all hate her. Sam knows if she decides to attend FCP next school year she’ll have her work cut out for her since Mason is only attending the fall semester then he graduates.
As you may remember, high school girls are vicious. They’re out for blood, and Samantha is the target.
Check the Fallen Crest series out! You will not be disappointed!
5/5 Stars for FCF!
