BOOK BLURB R.I.P. Alessi is in way over his head. Grand Haven has a new underworld king, and he’s celebrating at the local gentlemen’s club. But rules are rules. Not even the newly crowned underboss of the Coppola crime family touches the girls without permission from the madam who runs the local escort service. It’s easier said than done once Vera Monroe takes the stage under a blood-red light. The lure of the mysterious dancer can’t be ignored, and they’re soon hooked. However, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Rip suspects sheโs hiding something and forgetting his basic instincts will put his life at risk. But sometimes rules are meant to be broken.
Renee’s Three Star Review
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
So this is suppose to be a standalone read in the Underworld Kings world. I have read as many books in that series as there are right now and they have all been so amazing. It’s not that this book is bad. More so that it was so confusing to me. Then at the end I find out it is a novella set in the Underworld Kings world but a novella for the Hush series that Mary Elizabeth has out. I have not read either of those books and I was kind of lost a little. I don’t know that world and there wasn’t much of the Underworld Kings world in this book. They went to meet with the Ruin twice if I am remembering right. This is not a complete story if that is what you are expecting. I assume we will get the rest of the story in the next book in the Hush Series. This is a story about Rip and Vera who meet when she dances at the club that he is at. I assume he probably isn’t suppose to take her out on a date because she works for the queen of all the ladies in the town and you have to go through her to get one of her girl. I don’t know….I was a little confused. So its basically they meet they go on a date and I have to say that I get the feeling that they knew each other before this but he isn’t remembering her. I could be wrong. Then the date and the end. So it’s quick and I am sure I will read the book abut these two because now I have to know what the heck is actually going on but as far as standing on its own as a story it just fell super short to me. |

She is a wife, mother of four beautiful children, and dog tamer to one enthusiastic Pit Bull and a prissy Chihuahua. She’s a hairstylist by day but contemporary fiction, new adult author by night. Mary can often be found finger twirling her hair and chewing on a stick of licorice while writing and rewriting a sentence over and over until it’s perfect. She discovered her talent for tale-telling accidentally, but literature is in her chokehold. And she’s not letting go until every story is told.
