BLURB Failing out of college wasnโ€™t on my dream board. Neither was getting knocked up. Just the same, here I am, ready to start another year at Rake Forge University, pregnant and currently homeless. And it looks like Iโ€™m not the only one whoโ€™s returned. Juan Hernandez, my sisterโ€™s best friend, saunters through campus with that granite jaw and those raven strands of hair kissing his brow, his whiskey eyes searing everyone to ash. Iโ€™ve avoided him for months, but the second he sees me, the jig is up. The first thing he does is steal my lips in a ravishing kiss. A punishment. The second thing he does is rescue me from sleeping in my car. A lesson. Living with him will never work, not with how brash his words are, how hot his constant stare is, or how he touches me. His fingers brand my skin as if he owns me, and on some level, I know he wants to. What he doesnโ€™t know is that I belong to another manโ€ฆand come my twenty-first birthday, Iโ€™ll return to him whether I want to or not.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

If you are looking for a slow burn of my book, then you have found it. This is the story of Taylor and Juan and what a story it is. Taylor is a very misunderstood young lady who is forced into an impossible situation and to cope she uses her body and ends up getting pregnant. It really stinks for her that the father of the baby is a man who was just looking for a good time and leaves her pregnant with no one to turn to. My heart really broke for her and I really thought it was horrible that she didn’t have anyone to help her out with anything at all, except Juan. She is also this really insecure girl and at times that comes off as her being snobby but all she wants to do is find her place in the world.
Juan is a young man that has always for as long as he can remember had feelings for Taylor. He is also a alpha male that is sometimes a butt and very very broody. Sometimes she irritates him to the point of madness and other times he just wants her so bad he can’t stand it and might even be in love with her if he would just admit it. Maybe it is just lust but it sure didn’t feel that way to me. Juan finds Taylor and she is living in the back of her car with her pregnant and saves her. But she’s got a marriage to get to when she turns twenty one and she really really doesn’t want to do it at all. But her mother made a deal with his father and he has to come home when he is twenty-one and marry a man she really doesn’t even know. And her father isn’t messing around and she knows better than anyone what her father does to people who need reminders. I loved these two and I really loved the way that Juan took care of Taylor and if you didn’t know he wasn’t the father of this baby you would think he was. But what’s she going to do? She’s got obligations and a father you do not mess with. Hold on tight and enjoy the many many twists and turns that are King of Hearts. I loved the first book Wild Card and if you haven’t read this book then you really need to. You can read King of Heart without having read that book first but some of these characters are connected and you see them and get to know them as the series goes on.
