He bullied me.
He loved me.
He destroyed me.
I thought the worst day of my life would be when my parents told me that we were losing everything and moving to Cape Cove. I would be starting a new life, one without luxury. I would be starting my senior year not knowing anyone, instead of with friends I knew my entire life.
I was wrong.
The worst day came when I met Axel Hartly and he chose me to be his new game.
To survive Cape Cove I needed to be strong and fight.
That’s what I did.
I had to play his game. I thought I could play harder and win.
I was wrong.
I knew the only way to succeed would be to keep my heart locked away. I underestimated Axel and how easily he could draw me in as a moth to his flame.
He was going to burn me alive.
Renee’s Five Star Review
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
This is a bully romance and the story of Merick and Axel.
Merick is a girl who has had a great life until the day her parents told her they were losing everything they had and moving to Cape Cove. She is a girl who lived in the prestigious neighborhood of Haven Hill and she never ever wanted for anything. She has the best of friends and a really great boyfriend and now she is having to leave them, and the only life she has ever known. Now moving an hour away to Cape Cove her life is about to get turned upside down. Now in the grand scheme of things one hour away is not really in my mind that far away that you lose all your friends and your amazing boyfriend. But when you go from having everything to having big fat nothing life gets crazy and you really see the people in your life you thought were your true friends or boyfriend and find out just exactly who they are. It’s certainly a hard lesson to learn for sure. When she gets to Cape Cove she knows no one and has nothing and is starting her senior year at a new school with no friends. It doesn’t take long to figure out that Axel is the most popular boy in school. A tragic accident though has left him hurt and filled with so much rage. The only thing he knows to do now is find someone and take it all out on them. Who is more perfect than the new girl in school who has no one and nothing. After all she is a princess from Haven Hills. Let the games begin and oh what a great time I had reading this book. Can these two take on the role of tormentor and tormented or will they come together one day and take the world by storm? You have to find that out and I am telling you I devoured this book. I have never read a book by Harper Monroe. I can tell you that that will change now too. I loved her writing style, her character development and how this entire story flowed. I am looking so forward to getting my hands on the next book in this series for sure.
