This is the first book in a duet. You do not have to have read the other books in the Hawthorne Prep series to enjoy this duet. But, I have to say after reading this book I want to read all the ones I’ve missed!! This is also a dark, enemies-to-lovers, bully romance. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book because it might contain triggers for some readers.
This is the story of Delilah and Jasper. When these two meet there are sparks flying all over the place. But, there is a problem as to why Delilah has to keep her attraction to him on the down low. She has a boyfriend whose name is Jasper. Oh goodness, Jasper!! I could go on and on with the man reasons this guy is just a horrible human being but I am sure you don’t want to hear me rant all the way through this book review. BUT wow he is just horrible, a mess, a boy you would run from as fast as you could if you had the chance. Now I know I said boyfriend and I can already hear the oh goodness cheating in fiction going on in someones head. However, if you let that thought keep you from reading this book then you are making a huge mistake. Jasper is bound and determined to make these two have the most miserable lives known to man. He is bound and determined to get Austin Hawthorne expelled from the school and is going to make sure that everyone in the school hates Delilah by he himself spreading terrible rumors. See, not the nicest person you are ever going to read about. I would just have loved to have smack him up the side of the head many many times. And just when you think things can’t get any worse, something terrible happens that makes Austin lose all the trust he had in Delilah and he decides to join in making her life miserable scheme. He however is no where near the person that Jasper is and his caring side quickly wins over his desire to make Delilah the most hated student at Hawthorne Prep. You should expect a cliffhanger since this book is a duet and that is why I stopped talking about the story. I don’t want to ruin something leading up to that cliff that I was left hanging off of dying to know what was going to happen next. Delilah is going to steal your heart and break it at the same time. I wish I could say more but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. If you love dark enemies to lovers bully romances then this is one you do not want to miss reading.

About the book:
Welcome to the world of Hawthorne Prep. A seemingly idyllic school where ivy clings to the thick stone walls and a wrought iron gate keeps out the townies who can’t afford to foot the hefty price tag.
Except…I’m one of those townies.
I don’t belong here.
Most of the time, I feel like an outsider with her face smashed against a windowpane while staring inside. It’s a lonely feeling. One I’ve gotten used to. There are times when I secretly wonder if I’ll make it through senior year intact.
But then someone comes along and turns my world upside down and inside out. He makes me feel things I never dreamed possible. There’s a possessiveness to the way he watches me, and it sets my nerves on edge.
Especially when it’s in front of my boyfriend.
The one I desperately want to break up with.
The very same one who will make my life hell if I try to pull the plug.
Steering clear of Austin Hawthorne is my only option. A little attempt at self-preservation. For both our sakes.
One night changes everything between us and has me believing in the possibility of something more.
Just as swiftly as I’m given hope, it all comes crashing down around my head, making me a pawn in a game between two boys who will stop at nothing to take each other down.
Betrayal. Blackmail. Revenge.
How is it that those three words now rule my life?
