Wonderlight by Tina Spencer Release & Review

Wonderlight by Tina Spencer is now live!

I went to Scotland to find myself. To heal from my troubled past.

That’s all this was supposed to be.

And then I met him.

Avery used to have high hopes for her future until one traumatic night shattered her into a million pieces. Time went on, faintly scabbing her wounds, and Avery learned how to live within the shadows of her mind while keeping her struggles to herself.

Now in Toronto, the place she has called home for the last three years, Avery’s world abruptly capsizes. With no roof over her head, she decides to fly across the ocean to find solace in the rugged hills of the Scottish Highlands.

What she doesn’t expect to find is an unlikely connection with Lachlan—a brooding, local Scotsman in the small town of Corran—who seems to be navigating through his own darkness. While Lachlan anxiously anticipates Avery’s departure, she relishes the opportunity to evade her mysterious and sullen Scottish neighbour. Immersed in the captivating splendor of the mountains and valleys, Avery directs her attention towards self-discovery, immortalizing the breathtaking scenery within the pages of her sketchbook.

But the bond between Lachlan and Avery is magnetic, pulling them closer together with each passing day. Yet time is running against them, and what Avery doesn’t know is that Corran is protecting something that is meant to stay hidden: a secret that could end in devastation and heartbreak.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is the story of Lachlan and Avery.
Avery used to be a girl who was content with her sketch book and great romance novels. However when things go off the rails with her relationship she is now on a mission to discover herself. This ends up being something she decides to do this in the Scottish Highlands. It is a spur of the moment trip but one in which she has high hopes of getting some clarity in her life and escaping things going on too. She really is struggling but she does not want anyone to know. After all when you don’t have a roof over your head and scars on your heart you have to sometimes do what might seem drastic to others but to fate it isn’t. This brings up to Lachlan who is living in the town of Corran. He is laying low at his family’s inn/pub and has really been through it too. His life is a mess and one that he needs to figure out sooner rather than later. One day while staring out at the lake he sees Avery and the connection they feel is one only fate could hold. However she is there to discover herself and her sketch book and the amazing scenery are just the way to do that. After all Lachlan is very much a brooding male and he is going to be counting down the time until this girl that invades his space leaves to go back to Canada. However he is hiding something super important that is always meant to stay hidden. But a secret like this has the power to end their budding romance in devastation and heartbreak.
I loved these characters and I really loved the way we got to see Avery grow and begin to discover herself again. You are going to be rooting so hard for Avery and you will shed some tears with her. I love how Lachlan needed Avery more than he would probably admit and the only way to describe him while he is hiding things that Avery doesn’t know about is just so perfect. Serious book boyfriend material for sure.

Tina enjoys writing about flawed characters and their meaningful journeys through life and love. If you’re looking for emotional and inspirational books with spice, then you’ve come to the right place.

When Tina’s not spending her free time writing and agonizing over her fictional characters, she’s working through her endless TBR. She also adores spending time with her family, travelling, and discovering new things.
