I thought this book was a different spin for Maya Banks. I really enjoyed the psychic aspect to this story. I have read several of her other stories and they’re all good. I thought this was a good twist for this particular story.
So, what we have here is some dude going around kidnapping and brutally raping/cutting/stabbing/choking/ and ultimately killing each victim. There’s a woman, Ramie, who can “see” and feel the victims torture. She’s come very close to identifying the killer but now he’s stalking her! There’s only one person she can turn to when she’s at her whit’s end and that’s Caleb.
Caleb has witnessed Ramie’s gift first hand when he gave her no choice but to help find his sister after she’d been kidnapped. They were able to save the sister, but at a great price to Ramie. Personally, I think it would be awesome and horrid to have this particular gift. Ramie is never able to see the positives. She can’t touch people as she’s always seeing the negative they project. It would be quite awful not to be able to endure physical touch. I don’t think I could personally stand it – I’m a touchy feely type person. Caleb is the one person she’s found is a neutral for her. She can’t sense any negativity just a neutral buzz about him.
They have this crazy experience trying to catch this killer. It’s a whirlwind of events, emotions, and Ramie’s on psychic overload. The one way to for the killer to get his way is to get to Ramie right where it counts. The big question is will he succeed or will they be able to stop him before he get’s that far?
I couldn’t put this book down. I was gifted a paperback version by the publicist and I couldn’t put it down. I hated to not be able to continue to read it when I had to put it down. It had me entranced as to what was going to happen next. Love it!
