Carla’s Review:
*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie’s Book Reports in
exchange for an honest review.
WARNING: If you are looking for a sweet, wholesome love story, this is not
the book for you. This book contains rape, murder, physical abuse, child
molestation, and cutting. This is the story of two really screwed up
people finding the love they so desperately long for in each other. I
enjoyed this story because it was real. Life isn’t always easy, and the
world is full of screwed up people. It was nice to see that two damaged
individuals could find love in the darkest of situations.
Megan is trapped in an abusive home. Her stepfather beats her and her
mother. He continuously rapes Megan’s mother. So far, he has only touched
Megan, but she fears that he is growing bolder, and she knows that it won’t
belong before he rapes her. Because of this, she runs away to seek help
from her outlaw/biker biological father. She hasn’t spoken to her father
in a long time and has no idea that he is dead. When she is brought before
the cub for stealing five dollars from a club member, she meets the sexy
but oh so damaged Christopher “Outlaw” Caldwell.
Christopher is the product of his mother’s rape. Even though his mother
loves him unconditionally, his grandparents repeatedly tell him how his
birth ruined his mother’s life and how he is a constant reminder of that
terrible crime. Looking for acceptance, he joins the Death Dwellers MC.
He becomes close to the MC’s president, “Big Joe”, who also happens to be
Megan’s father. Through a series of horrible events, Christopher is forced
to kill Big Joe.
When Christopher first meets Megan, he can see that she is sweet and
innocent. He agrees to help her but refuses to admit his attraction to
her. Over a short period of time, each of them begin to develop strong
feelings for each other. However, the relationship is not easy because
Christopher fights it every step of the way. Horrible events unfold and
threaten to tear them apart. Can they overcome the obstacles that life
throws at them, or will they surrender to the pain that is threatening to
drown them both?
As I noted earlier this is a really good book, but it is not for the faint
of heart. It had some editing issues which at times distracted me.
Overall, I would recommend this book if the situations listed in my
warning are things that can be read and not dwelled upon.
