A Rival’s Kiss by Maya Hughes Release and Review

A Rival’s Kiss by Maya Hughes is now live!

Walking away would be the smartest decision, but no one’s ever accused me of being smart. Cold, determined, brutal, but never smart.

Willa’s mine from the moment I rescue her. I protect her from a brawling crowd and she stares up at me like I’m her prince charming. No one’s ever looked at me like that. No one has ever dared to come that close.

I didn’t know she was the little sister of one of my biggest rivals. Her brother and I have both drawn blood on the field, dislocated joints, broken bones, but I’ll never want to show her that side of me.

I long to be the man she believes I am, but there’s only one way I know how to win—how to survive—and that’s ensuring my enemies lose.

Once he finds out who his sister has been dating it’ll be all-out war, and I might lose the only woman who’s ever looked at me like I’m not built only for destruction.

Changing my ways won’t be easy, but I’m willing to risk it all for her.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is the story of Willa and Ezra. These two come from totally different worlds. The not only attended rival colleges but Willa comes from a very tight knit family where she never had to worry about where her next meal would come from or if she would have a roof over her head at night time. Ezra is the complete opposite. Would have have food to eat and a safe place to sleep? Would there be anyone around to care for him or who cared about him? But he grew up went to college and is a beast on the football field. I have to say too that you are going to fall in love with Ezra and you might not get your heart back. He lives his life minding his own business is hard working and loyal and wants to be drafted to play professional football one day. He by no means is a perfect man but he knows that and doesn’t pretend to be something he is not. When he meets Ezra who is this cheerful girl so full of life and is eager to experience the college life while she still studies her butt off. It’s her time to spread her wings and learn how to live her life to the fullest. To say they are very different people is an understatement. One and open book and the other dark and secretive. I do not want to go in to their story. I just want you to know that when you pick up this book your going to be reading about two absolutely amazing characters and will fall so hard for them you won’t get your heart back. I loved every second of it and was sad when it was over.

Meet Maya Hughes

Maya Hughes, that’s me!, can often be found sneaking in another chapter while hiding in the bathroom from her kids! 🙂 I’m a romance writer who loves taking inspiration from everyday life, namely my husband and biggest fan. Inspiration also strikes when I hear a song, meet someone new or daydream while at soccer practice.

I love writing stories that capture the possibilities of the paths less travelled and enjoy experiencing life through my characters’ eyes.

I’m the mom of three little ones, the wife to an amazing husband and also work full time. Some of my favorite things are cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, white wine, laughing until I can’t breathe, traveling with my family and Jeff Goldblum.

About Renee Henson

Renee Henson has an obsession with reading and reviewing. Especially anything that is a dark romance, fairy tale retelling, MC, and is trying her best to love the PNR worlds. Nothing is quiet as exciting to her as reading a good book and then talking about it or making comments while reading with her friends that have read the book too. She is always happiest with her kindle in her hand and her nose is a book. She has been reviewing for Stephanie's Book Reports for over ten years.
