Genre: Dark Romance
Trope: Mafia Romance

I’ve never met him. Never even seen him.

But I’ve heard the whispers. The rumors. The stories about him being as cruel as his father.

Maybe even worse.

They say his presence wraps around your throat whenever he enters a room. And that’s exactly what I feel the moment he walks into the diner where I work, and I hear people breathe out his name.

Alexius Del Rossa.

They call him the crown prince of the Dark Sovereign—a society of men who own everything but the weather in this town.

Men say he has ice in his veins, and women talk about the corrupted heart in his chest. He’s the kind of man you pray never to cross paths with. The kind of man a girl like me has no chance of surviving.

But while his eyes trap mine, and his magnetism touches my skin, I’m unable to move when he forces me into a corner and hands me an envelope.

It’s an offer.

One I can’t refuse.

See, I have nothing. No family. No friends. No home.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This book is absolutely amazing. You will not lay it down once you pick it up. This is the story of Alexius and it is a semi-dark book that might contain some triggers for some readers so make sure you heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. Leandra is a girl who has not had the best life and is now on her own and struggling to make ends meat by being a waitress in a part of down that is super run down. She hides her beauty behind baggy clothes and is basically all alone in the world. You can imagine her shock when a member of the Dark Sovereign is in the café one day and ends Alexius himself ends up coming in and handing her an envelope and needs an answer in twenty four hours. She figures it’s a party invite or he wants her to work in one of his clubs. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Alexius is the oldest of the Del Rossa sons and is set to take the seat at the head of the table of the Dark Sovereign. The guy has literally sacrificed everything and learned all about being the leader from his father. But his father is sick and dying and has a few surprises in store still when he tells Alexius he has to marry within a certain period of time. Alexius in not happy. He has dedicated his life to the Dark Sovereign and his father and now he has to take a wife he never wanted in the first place. He comes up with a plan. Find a girl alone in the world who could benefit from the arrangement, live her life with his protection always and more money than she could ever spend for staying his wife until his father dies and he takes over. Seems pretty simple right? I loved these two. The fire they both have just had me on pins and needles and I loved that Leandra could at times give as good as she got. But there is more going on in this book than just I need a wife now. There is someone or someone’s messing with the clubs and employees there and I swear to you I think I got the cold chills when it was revealed what is happening. That too keeps you on a razor edge. This book is good and I can’t think of one thing about it that I didn’t love. I was a little confused though that this book didn’t end as I thought all these books in the new series were standalones. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t mind waiting on the next book because I have to know. I have to know a lot of things and so will you. Don’t even sit and think about reading this book. Just do it. You will love it. And you won’t regret it one bit.

About Renee Henson

Renee Henson has an obsession with reading and reviewing. Especially anything that is a dark romance, fairy tale retelling, MC, and is trying her best to love the PNR worlds. Nothing is quiet as exciting to her as reading a good book and then talking about it or making comments while reading with her friends that have read the book too. She is always happiest with her kindle in her hand and her nose is a book. She has been reviewing for Stephanie's Book Reports for over ten years.
