I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
I really hate to write low star reviews. If you read my reviews you know I love a good BDSM story. This genre is one of my favorites to read. Becoming His is a follow up book to Learning to Breathe by Ellie Masters. So Sally is a Coroner in her county and currently working on a murder case which quickly turns into a serial killer case. Derek is a business man and it seems he’s pretty wealthy. He wants Sally to be his submissive if she’ll agree to the terms.
This is where I had the most issues with this story. The BDSM elements seemed mostly correct but there wasn’t anything she signed – in this book – to agree to be his submissive. They didn’t has out limits – he just said trust me to know what’s best. I don’t think she has any BDSM experience before so that’s not right in my reading experience. They should go through a list and see what she’s willing to experience, what’s interesting to her, and what she would never like. I’m not sure if that wasn’t included in this book because it was covered in the first? I didn’t read the first one so that could have been covered. Reading this story though it didn’t seem like it was discussed ever.
I also didn’t like how if she had a work call she had to explain every detail before she was allowed to even have her cell phone. Her cases are confidential. She could be fired if anyone found out she was discussing a case with a civilian. Realizing this is fiction – I prefer my favorites to reflect reality as close as possible.
