This is the story of Layla and Scythe He is ex-military and has made a name for himself as a hit man. However, when an unusual request comes across his desk it gives him pause. He finds himself wanting to protect rather then take. Layla is a girl who has the worlds worst luck. She is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. When she overhears a conversation she never thought it would be the thing that takes her out of this world. However, she now has Scythe to do the exact opposite of what he usually does. This book is a slow burn. But suddenly a lot is happening at one time and things got a little confusing for me. The flow of it was a little off to me but it didn’t make it a bad book.
