Keane Morgan wouldn’t return any of my calls or texts, and I was pissed as hell about it. I didn’t want to drive from Seattle to L.A. with the guy any more than he wanted to drive with me, but I had no frickin’ choice in the matter–at least, not if I wanted to use his brother Dax’s coveted parking spot at UCLA.
Okay, so it turned out Keane was objectively gorgeous, and, fine, pretty funny, too. But did he have to be so damned in love with himself? I mean, jeez, the cocky way he flashed those dimples was just so orchestrated. And, honestly, what kind of guy uses the phrase “baby doll” with a straight face? Oh, that’s right: the kind of guy who’s a male stripper.
Yup, the cocky jerk turned out to be Seattle’s answer to Magic Mike, a stripper known as “Ball Peen Hammer”–which meant Keane Morgan was emphatically not the kind of guy I’d ever fall for.
Not. At. All.
No freakin’ way.
Well, until Keane convinced me to fall for him, that is.
Which I did.
Hard.
Renee’s Three Star Review
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Maddy is moving from Seattle to LA to finish her last two years of college studying filmmaking. She’s smart, talented, and comes alive behind the camera. She will be living with her sister who scored her a premium parking space thanks to Dax her neighbor. In exchange for the parking spot Maddy agrees to make a portion all video for Dax’s band and give his brother Keane a ride from Seattle to LA. Maddy and Keane don’t exactly get off on the right foot as he wont return her messages as he has no idea who Maddy is or what she’s talking about in her text message. When your Ball Peen Hammer the stripper and your busy you don’t have time for such things as keeping up with your phone. Keane is cocky, self confident, over the too funny, and gorgeous. Let the games begin along with the road trip.
I’m in the minority’s here because I had the hardest time ever reading this book. I swear the way Peen and his friends talk just absolutely drove me crazy and at times was confusing. I felt like it was listening to someone talk to a baby at times or just make up their own words for everything as you go. Instead of adorable you’ll read adorbsicles or he calls Abby sweet meat and the list goes on and on. It drove me absolutely crazy. So much so I put the book down and was not going to finish it. Curiosity got the better of me though because I so wanted to know what was going to happen between Keane and Abby. The story had the potential to be amazing for me but the language was just a huge turn off for me.
This was my first time reading a book by Lauren Rowe. I will possibly give another book of hers a chance. The language in Ball Peen Hammer just wasn’t for me.
