I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is the story of Kate, Wiley, Dakota, and Levi. Kate is a girl who lives in New Jersey and has a horrible boyfriend who likes to seal her secret stashes of money to feed his gambling addiction. I think I cheered so hard two pages in when she got rid of this horrible human being. However, a year later he shows back up in her life and this time he has gotten her into such a dangerous position that she has no choice but to grab her cat William and run. This leads her to Wyoming and the Steele Mountain Ranch answering a help wanted ad. Kate isn’t afraid of hard work and she really needs this job to survive and being on the ranch to feel safe. Dakota is the namesake of the ranch. It has been in his family for a long time and his father nearly ran it into the ground. Now Dakota is determined to make it the ranch it’s always been meant to be. Wiley is the horse wrangler and Levi he lead cowhand. These guys are as different as night and day and just might be holding on to some secrets of their own. Kate isn’t about to tell them she is on the run, but they can tell that something is going on with her. I loved all these characters. Kate is amazing with the guys and the animals and I loved how she brought something special to the ranch with her. Levi is a dark soul who has been through some horrible things that nearly cost him his life. But when he holds Kate she feels so cherished. I loved seeing that side of this hard man. Dakota is a born leader. He is a bit of a mystery that you get to unwrap as you are reading and it was great to see him open up and show. Wiley is sweet and the first one to show Kate how he really felt. I think I fell for him first. He is funny and charming but each of these guys hold on to a past that you know nothing about. They actually tell her she ran from a crow into a rattlesnake den and didn’t even know it. I loved reading this book. It is a book I will not soon forget. I loved the character’s, being on a ranch, the people there and the people in town. This is a book that you don’t want to miss. This was also my first time reading a Kendra Moore book. I can promise you that it will not be my last.
