BLURB:ย

Tell me your nightmares. . .

One night changes everything.

Ember doesnโ€™t know how, but on the brink of death, she calls to them. They come in the darkness, like phantoms in masks, and rescue her from her pain. But that rescue comes with a price. Her soul. She must give all she is to the Cirque, where it doesnโ€™t only house you, it owns you.

Nothing is ever as it seems and the truth behind the striped curtain is no small matter. Can Ember keep her vow? Can she embrace the madness the Cirque demands?

After all, the Cirque isnโ€™t just a home for freaks and runaways, but also for those who will kill to protect it. Theyโ€™ll carve a bloody path through the world, preying on the predators no one else dares to. When the Cirque calls, they answer.

The Cirque demands blood.

It demands payment.

And pay Ember must, with her soul or theirs. . .

Welcome to Cirque Obscurum, where the cards never lie. . .

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is a dark story. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. This book will contain triggers for some readers.
This is the story of Ember. As a little girl she begged her mom and dad to take her to the Cirque when it was in town. But this is now normal circus. It is a circus where they want you to tell them their nightmares. When she sees the fortune teller she is handed a card and told to use it anytime she needed to. Fast forward and Ember has lost her mom and is in a marriage that is absolutely horrible. When she finds the card again, that she had packed up and all but forgotten!!! That’s all you are getting out of me and I hope I didn’t say too much. This is certainly a book that you need to go into blind. It has all kinds of things going on in it. I know that I devoured this book and it is one that I won’t forget about for a very long time. I loved the concept but hated the things that Ember and others have gone through. I found it fascinating and I swear I went through all kinds of emotions reading this book. I loved most that this is a finding yourself again and in the end Ember might have thought she needed rescuing but she ends up recusing herself. I would give this story way more than five stars if I could. It is a story that you do not miss. But absolutely don’t forget to check the TW for this book. Your mental health is very important and matters.

About Renee Henson

Renee Henson has an obsession with reading and reviewing. Especially anything that is a dark romance, fairy tale retelling, MC, and is trying her best to love the PNR worlds. Nothing is quiet as exciting to her as reading a good book and then talking about it or making comments while reading with her friends that have read the book too. She is always happiest with her kindle in her hand and her nose is a book. She has been reviewing for Stephanie's Book Reports for over ten years.
