This is the story of Amber and Emmett. They have a dark story to tell and you need to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. This book will hold triggers for some readers. Amber and Emmett neither one have had a very easy life. There back story will break your heart so much. So you will shed some tears I feel like. I don’t cry reading books and I cried. Emmett is fighting demons on top of demons on top of demons. He also is carrying around a cargo hold in the bottom of the plane size baggage. Amber has her own emotional baggage to and at times I didn’t even know how they functioned alone much less when they were around each other. Amber to is a walking billboard for trouble and it finds her no matter how hard she tries for it not to. When she gets in trouble again and calls her best friend Grace, the last person she ever expects to come to her rescue is Emmett. He takes her home gives her a job and fights some ways that he feels every single step of the way. Amber is really no prepared for her job and she has no idea what she is getting herself in to. Emmett though knows that she is different female he has ever know and he knows that he wants to keep her in his life. But, it’s not long before Amber feels like she doesn’t know who to trust of if she fits in to Emmett’s world. I don’t really want to say more about the story and give something away. But , I can tell you that there is a lot going on in this book besides the story of the feelings and there are times you will find yourself on the edge of your seat. I loved this story and it was a thrill ride of an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to the very end.

PROLOGUE I’ve been shot. It feels like fire ravages my body and mind. I try to roll onto my side, but my brain is scrambling and misfiring. From somewhere, I can hear Emmett so clearly, and then the fire rages, boiling the blood in my veins until I wish for death. If I am alive, being so hurts too much. I say his name, pleading with him, but the anguish doesn’t end. His breathing is close to my face. I want to beg him to make this stop, but I can’t form the words. Then he’s gone, leaving me to die. Through the pain and heat, light burns my eyes as I blink them open. Past the haze of pain, he’s there, a vision, leaning over me. So perfect. His mouth moves, but there’s no sound. My eyelids flutter closed against the pain that has latched on to me. It grows in intensity until I wish for death again. Cold sweeps in like a raging sea, taking the fire with it and leaving the ice in its wake. I shiver. My body rattles, and I manage to open my eyes. Emmett’s face fills my view. Blood trickles down from a cut on his head. He’s screaming as men pull at him. I reach for him, and it’s like he’s given me permission to come back to him. He throws the men away from his arms, and he’s there again, his breath on my face, fear in his eyes. “I love you. I can’t live without you.” His words give me peace, and I smile; my eyelids grow heavy. Emmett is moving away from me again, being dragged by Gardaí. His mouth opens in a roar as he tries to push them away. I’m slipping, and everything grows cloudy. He continues to fight, but there are too many of them. They cover Emmett as they take him to the ground. His eyes, so full of pain, are the last thing I see before the cold captures me fully. As my lids close, I realize there’s no more pain. No more anything. I’m walking through a field of lilies, and I can hear her sweet little laugh. My heart bursts with joy as I run my hands along the flowers and search for my little girl.
