Renee’s Five Star Review
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Arsene Corbin is a man who is never going to marry for money. He is obsessed with his stepsister. If he can’t have her no one can. He intends to conquer her if it is the last thing he ever does. She is a mean to an end and he never saw what is coming his way until it happens. This is the first half of the book. During the second we see Arsene and Winnie. They have both lost people and are uncovering some really shocking secrets to them. These two have met at his fiance’s work function and on a balcony where they didn’t speak just stared at each other. They are about to really go through finding out everything they can while discovering themselves at the same time. Winnie has dreams of Broadway while Arsene is a financial man who has made a lot of money on his own but inherited a fortune and a theater that his mother who he can not remember well and doesn’t think much of. But when things begin to get heavy in their discovery will they be able to put the past behind them and move on?
As I said this book is done in two parts and I can promise you that you’re not going to be the biggest fan of Arsene. He is not the nicest character there is on earth. Don’t give up on him though I have my thoughts on why he is the way he is but I can’t tell you them now because I might spoil something for someone. Winnie is a really sweet girl who comes from a small town so her nickname of Bumpkin fits her though I would hate it too if Arsene was calling me that too. She married a man she thought she would be in love with forever until…and then she realized just how horrible he was to her. The second half is the discovery and the healing and I loved that Winnie does what she has to do to get herself back from how she changed when she was married. I loved the journey and the story and hope we get peeps of them in the rest of the stories in this series.
Corporate events are where good ideas go to die. It is a well-known fact any trade secret worth whispering will not be aired during a formal company event. Valuable market information, like a weapon, is traded in the back alleys of the industry.
No one is yours, and you belong to no one. We’re all just fallen foes trying to survive this universe.
We Corbins always won in the end. Even if it meant we needed to play dirty.
“You’re about to get everything your heart desires ,” I mumble into her hot skin. Everything she doesn’t deserve. For the Corbin men have one thing in common— they always know how to choose the wrong woman.
He is the only person who has ever managed to make my skin crawl and my mouth dry with a simple stare. His mere existence turns me inside out.
He tastes of Skittles and Coke and someone new and exciting.
I am not a man accustomed to unattainable things.
