I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
This is the story of Oliver and Briar. When they were younger they really really fell for each other. He adored her and she him. Her life was a little like Sleeping Beauty and they even danced to the song many times. But, life gets in the way and things change. Now you know they change but you don’t know the full story. You peel it back a little at a time. But now Oliver is the man who makes his friends think he is basically a man about town, had not job, and has constant one night stands. In reality he works hard. He runs on of his families hotels. A hotel in which a movie is being shot and he runs into Briar for the first time in many many years. There both shocked and he chooses to make it clear that he knows her but she decides to ignore him and act like she doesn’t know who he is. But he can’t let that stand and has to talk to her. Which leads to a accident that cost her her memory. Since he is the one that saved her, he is responsible for her since she had been disowned basically by her parents. The idea is that they are engaged to be married and he takes her home. But alas, she gets her memory back and it is game on from that moment on. I can’t tell you much more about the book or I will give something away. I liked reading this book. It keeps you guessing at what is going on in places in the book. I think I loved Oliver. The real Oliver. Not the one that he showed and wanted the world to think he is. Seb, I, gosh bless his heart but the man had some serious healing to do. Briar is bratty at times and that really got on my nerves at times. I just wanted her to stand for herself. Not play games. Find out who she is on her own and be that woman. Just like Oliver needs to do. But this book was good. I don’t always love ever character in a book and that doesn’t make it mad. it just reminds me of how people are in life and not everything is all hearts and flowers and perfect. So it felt real.
