This is the second book in the Vengeful Lies Series. This is the story of Dutton and Posie. Posie is a single mom who is carrying around a pretty big secret that caused her to run from the life she was living. Now she is doing whatever she needs to do to keep food on the table and provide her son the life she wants him to have. She works in a club and had never met her boss until one night she has the worst meeting possible with your boss. However, from that moment on Dutton is drawn to her. He likes her sassy attitude. He is on a mission to find out all he can about Posie’s life before she showed up to work in his club. But he also has his work cut out for him. Posie doesn’t trust anyone. She want’s nothing to do with Dutton and is fighting it with everything she has. I really loved reading this book and could go on and on about it. But I don’t want to give something away. I loved the characters in this book. Dutton was easier to fall for than Posie was. She was a hard character to get to know and I kind of loved what I felt was a reverse of the usual I really like the girl but the guy I’m not so sure about. I love that this isn’t an instant fall for each other kind of read. I loved what a good mother Posie was. I love that Dutton never gave up on her and kept bringing her out of her shell. She is one tough cookie but has some serious walls up. This is a book that you don’t want to miss. It is a total standalone with a guaranteed happily ever after.
