The Shipwreck. The Survival. The Story.
MAYA TILLER lives the unordinary life of a seventeen-year-old. She’s been an inhabitant on a previously uncharted island in the tropics, a third generation of the original seventeen passengers who were marooned while embarking to the Bahamas aboard the ferry, The Constellation. There is only one rule on the island that cannot be broken: newcomers will commit to never leaving.
After the passing of Maya’s father six months prior, she is consumed with what her mother and best friend, Luke, identify as “drowning dreams,” reliving his final moments at sea. All this while being incessantly taunted by Hallie, the most popular and wealthiest girl on the island.
When Finn, a tall, blonde, ocean-eyed Southern charm moves to the island, Maya is awestruck. But while she’s attracted to Finn, she struggles to move on from the deep-rooted secret crush she’s had on Luke for most of her life.
Her sheltered life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers that the key which was entrusted to her by her late father leads her on the adventure of a lifetime. A Category 5 hurricane presents the opportunity for Maya to be evacuated to the mainland. Faced with this choice, Maya struggles with whether to stay behind to fulfill the quest that her father began or to start anew and explore the world.
Brimming with twists and turns, The Island of the Seventeen transports readers to a tropical paradise of secrets, trust, and true love.
Renee’s Five Star ReviewΒ
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

I have to say that this book had me on the edge of my seat. I also feels likes its a book you need to go into blind. This is a mystery/thriller set on an island. Years ago seventeen passengers were marooned while going to the Bahamas and found themselves having to survive on an uncharted island. Maya is a third generation of the original seventeen. We meet up with Maya six months after her father has passed away and she is having the craziest “drowning dreams” that relive his final moments at sea. Now you would think on this island there would be no anatomisty but Maya is being taunted by a girl named Hallie who is the most popular, richest girl on this island. Add in a newcomer in Finn, the crush of her life Luke, the adventure of a lifetime thanks to her father, a Category 5 hurricane, a trip to the mainland and so many twists and turns you have a read that you are not going to be able to lay down. I loved reading this book. Loved the characters and the adventure they took me on.

Renee Henson has an obsession with reading and reviewing. Especially anything that is a dark romance, fairy tale retelling, MC, and is trying her best to love the PNR worlds. Nothing is quiet as exciting to her as reading a good book and then talking about it or making comments while reading with her friends that have read the book too.
