There is a prequel you can read, for free, called A Royal Affair. It introduces you to Stellan and Margot. It will show you how they met and where they leave off is the beginning to The Wicked Prince.
Royal stories are some of my favorites to read. This particular love story shows how misconception can lead to assumptions and then lead to hostility or even hatred. Stellan swears Margot knew who he was but when it’s outed who she’s been hanging out with she’s super surprised. No one tells her he’s the heir to the thrown of Denmark. That he should never be seen with an American commoner such as her.
Their story is pretty straight forward. Once Stellan gets his head out of his behind he realizes Margot challenges him like no other has before. She makes him smile, laugh, and his genuinely happy. Margo is absolutely gone for Prince Stellan. Then something happens and she gets spooked.
Like I said this book leaves nothing to guessing how it’s going to turn out. The characters are likable…though it might take you a bit to warm up to Stellan in this book. Definitely a Cinderella love story.
