BLURB

I ruined his life.

It was my investigation that sent his father to jail. It was my fault his mother killed herself shortly after. Iโ€™ve regretted it every day since. When he shows up in my Journalism class, I know Iโ€™m in trouble.

Cullen Ayers wants to make me pay.

His torment becomes my life, and I endure every moment because I deserve it. What started as revenge quickly turns into lust. Heโ€™s only eighteen, and I should be ashamed of how good this feels when weโ€™re alone, but I canโ€™t help myself. Iโ€™m in too deep.

Iโ€™m starting to discover his familyโ€™s secrets go far deeper than I first thought. The more I uncover, the more ways he finds to punish me.

Cullen wants to ruin me for life, and Iโ€™m afraid he already has.

This title was previously published in the Tangled Sheets anthology as Spitfire but has a new title, cover and added content! Warning: This is a dark, bully romance with explicit content that may be triggering to some readers, including dub-con, abuse, and murder. Cullen Ayers is covered in red flags, but the bigger the bully, the better the redemption.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is a dark bully romance and it does contain some things that might be triggers from some people. You need to heed the warnings in the front of the book. This story was also in a anthology. The Tangled Sheets Anthology and was titled Spitfire but don’t let that stop you from reading if you have read that anthology. This is now a more complete story with added content.

This is the story of Everly West and Cullen Avery. The prologue is going to show you how this whole journey starts and its starts with Everly being the one as a journalist who blew wide open and human trafficking ring with a story and this leads to ten year old Cullens father going to prison and shortly after he finds him mom dead from a drug over dose. So to say these events wrecked the only world that a ten year old boy had ever know and threw him into a terrible living environment is a understatement. Fast forward eight years and Everly has never really been able to not feel guilty for what happened to the Ayers family after she blew up a story that changed a lot of lives including hers. But now she is ready for a change and has decided to give a teaching job at the local college a shot and see how it goes. She’s super nervous for this change and her class is huge. But on the first day of class before all the seats fill up she goes over the roster again and sees a very familiar name. Surely it can not really be the Cullen Avery. There is no way that is going to happen. But it does. He looks different not but she has never forgot the piercing blue eyes of the little boy in the court room who stared at her the entire time. Now he is here to get his revenge and he do not go easy on Everly. Revenge is a dish best served cold but what happens when your head says one thing and your heart another. Well that you have to read to find out.

I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t put it down. I love a good age/gap story and I love a dark bully romance. So there are two of my favorite things in one book. I loved that the age gap was not the older man and younger woman. It is actually and older woman as Everly is thirty two and Noah is eighteen. I loved that she had her life together, had good friends, a great job, but didn’t let her busting up a huge human trafficking ring go to her head and she didn’t run from it either and she was scared and it took a long time to get over that but she never really got completely over it. I don’t see how you ever would really. Noah certainly has not forgotten and he is at college on a scholarship and when there is a mistake in his schedule that has to be corrected so it doesn’t mess his scholarship up he sees Everly’s name on the list of classes for a Journalism glass. There’s not way it can really be here but it is and the time has come for him to exact his revenge and taking it out on her and her body just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Now here is where Noah is maybe going to be a character that you’re not going to be a fan of. He is cruel, mean, nasty even to Everly and she is afraid of him. Until she is not and things start to change. But you have to read to find that out. I loved them both so much. Noah never really had a shot at a normal life and as this book goes on you’re going to uncover even more secrets about his family and you will be on the edge of your seat when some unexpected events occur. I love a story about redemption too and this one has a huge redemption story in it. I think that a lot of y’all will love this book. Dark, Bully, Age-Gap, Romance. Yes, Yes and Yes place. Go grab it, dive in and I hope you love it as much as I do.
