Book Description:

Everyone has secrets; secrets meant to be kept—hidden away where nobody can discover the truth. Adrian O’Donnell (aka: Dre Donley) is no exception. Dre spins tales and half-truths like it’s his job, keeping the reality of his past buried deep within each lie he fabricates. On the other hand, Kathryn Howell is the exception to the rule. She’s a straight-shooter, a tell-it-like-it-is, no filter kind of girl.

Kathryn’s honesty and straightforwardness is the ultimate turn on for a guy like Dre. He’s never met someone so sincere, so full of truth and innocence. Their chemistry is unavoidable, their connection, magnetic. When Dre sets out to make Kathryn fall for him, he doesn’t realize the grave mistake he’s making. Kathryn’s strength and convictions do not falter, even for an irresistible man like Dre. When his past resurfaces, and the lies come tumbling forth, Kathryn must decide if his deceit and betrayal can be forgiven or if the damage is irreparable. Will the truth ultimately destroy the relationship that neither one of them could deny or even attempt to resist?

This novel is for mature readers only, due to language and sexual content.

Stephanie’s 4 Star Review:

I was given a review copy of this book by the author.  When she asked me if I would read/review it for her I was ecstatic.  I had this book on my TBR but just hadn’t gotten around to getting and reading it yet.  I thought the synopsis was intriguing and wanted to read more!

So…Dre is a guy that hangs around Charleston, SC doing odd jobs around town for people and he seems to know everyone.  He had noticed Katheryn at lunch one day and basically stalked her for a month before he made his presence known to her.  Talk about super stalking!  Katheryn is a literary agent who’s never had much in the way of relationships.  The last one she’d had ended two years prior.  She really wasn’t looking for one either.  Until Dre walks into her life and asks her out.  She knows he’s not up for grabs but thinks a night or two with Dre might be just what she needs.

Now…Katheryn doesn’t have a filter.  She’s honest to a fault.  She will tell you exactly what she’s thinking and doesn’t pussy foot around as we say here in south.  Dre finds this very refreshing.  However, he dishes no information.  Lies a few times and even avoids answering Katheryn’s questions as to not divulge anything about himself so she doesn’t run away from him.  I told the author there were times I really wanted to shake him.  Even though Katheryn was honest, I don’t think he really listened to her.  She would listen and decide how she felt about what he told her…but he wasn’t taking the chance.

So, their world wind romance turned into love.  There are some crazy ups and downs with this couple.  Like I said.  I really wanted to shake Dre several times during this story.  However…when it was time to unveil his past.  I understood his idiocy.

This is a great book and very heartfelt characters.  I definitely think you should pick it up!

Carla’s Review:

5 stars for Can’t go Home by Angelisa Stone!! Wow I freaking loved this
book.  It has it all including love, a little bit of angst, humor, and a
story line that will leaving you questioning your beliefs on certain
issues.  After reading the first chapter, I was hooked.  I could not put my
Kindle down until I read the entire book.

Dre and Kathryn, the main characters, were so real which made it easy to
love them.  Kathryn was hilarious-from her in your face honesty to her
inner monologues.  I swear she had me laughing at loud throughout the
story, and yes my husband may have looked at me like I had lost my mind!
How can I describe Dre? Well that’s an easy one-sex on a stick!!  He was
sweet and laid back.  Yes, he had his secrets, but I still couldn’t help
but love him!  Let me tell you, the chemistry between Dre and Kathryn was
off the charts!!  I was worried that my Kindle was going to spontaneously
combust!

I will issue a warning-just when you think you have the story figured out
you are hit with a twist that you would never expect.  Stone’s writing
style is great which made the story flow easily from one chapter to the
next.  I would highly recommend this book!  Go ahead, one click it, you
know you want to!

*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from the author in exchange for
an honest review.
