    Hi Stephanie,

I’m Thea, 19 years old, and from Germany. I recently finished writing a full-length YA romance novel, A First Time for Everything. So far, a small publishing house in the US requested the entire manuscript once I’m done editing and a literary agent the first 50 MS pages 🙂 Fingers crossed, but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll self-publish. I know that you’re a blogger and reviewer, not a beta reader, however, I wanted to message you anyway. I’m currently looking for beta readers for my novel who will help me develop my voice. Beta reading would also have benefits for you such as mentions and bragging rights.

I would be extremely thankful for beta readers as this is my very first novel. Also, I’m not a native speaker and started learning English more intensely only a few years ago. As you can see, I’m a quick learner and adept, but still far away from where I want to be in a few years with more practice. Now, to my novel: the target audience is mainly girls 14+, the word count is around 115 – 120k, and I’m halfway through the first round of editing.

The current summary is (needs improvement): A First Time for Everything follows the lives of the high school seniors Holly and Griffin. Holly and Griffin have been best sandbox buddies and first crushes as little kids. But when Holly’s family moved to Germany, their contact broke. Six years later, Holly is finally back in Maine, but nothing is like it has been once. Suffering from delayed puberty, Holly lives in a world of anxiety, social pressure, and constant discomfort with her own body. And to top it off, Griffin doesn’t even seem to recognize her.

Meanwhile, Griffin struggles with a life based upon lies and secrets no one should ever know. For everyone else, he’s just the popular and rich jock. Well, everyone except for the girl who keeps ignoring him despite their past. But an (un-)fortunate confusion and break-in into the wrong house causes Holly to end up in Griffin’s kitchen in the middle of the night. They decide to give their friendship another chance. But when Griffin finally decides to open up to Holly and come clean, his carefully built tower of secrets and running caves in. Suddenly, Griffin finds himself in the chaos of questions about love, family, forgiveness, and the future. The problem isn’t the questions. The problem is finding the answers.

Please let me know if you’re up for it!
