It was a story in an anthology but it has had content added to it and it really is a great read. You though will need to heed the trigger warnings in the beginning of the book. It will contain triggers for some readers. This is the story of Alaric and Layla. Layla is a girl who has a family until one tragic day it all changed and so did her life and that of her sister Zoey. There is a pretty big age gap between Alaric and Layla but don’t let that make you not read this book as they meet well not really meet but she is young at this time and you get the story of her growing in to her twenties before they really see each other again. Alaric is the hero of the day and an angel to Zoey. There life is so tragic and from the first chapter my heart broke so much for them. But they are together always and Alaric has to keep his eyes on the girls and his curiosity turns into an obsession and he is there at the exact moment when Zoey is in danger and Layla needs more help than she could ever ask anyone for. She is now a woman and has always always, taken the best care of her sister and I love how Alaric not only had an interest in Layla but he also had the best of intention for Zoey. But don’t let that fool you. The man is a contract killer. A man who makes a lot of money doing something that he actually enjoys and has to hide too. There is a lot going on in this book that will keep you flipping the pages well into the night. I hope there are more stories to come in this series.
