Renee’s Five Star Review:

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Desire is the first book in Max Henry’s Twisted Hearts Duet. Expect a cliffhanger since it is a duet.

There are four simple rules when you on parole. Don’t lust after your best friend’s daughter. Don’t get into a physical fight over her. Definitely don’t have sex with her. Whatever you do don’t fall in love. Zeus has a bad habit of breaking the rules.

Desire is told in the dual points of view of Belle and Zeus. Belle is just finishing high school. However all her life she has just wanted one thing ever. To be loved completely. She hasn’t had the best home life and her mother and father split when she was young. Her mother has never been a mother to her and she has only ever had her dad and Zeus. Zeus you see is her dads best friend and a great comfort to Belle as she was growing up. Until, he just falls off the face of the earth. Belle’s dad won’t tell her where he is and she is left wondering what has happened to him. Imagine her surprise when he shows up at her house and catches her skipping exams. He’s back and he is moving in with Belle and her dad. These two characters stole my heart. Yes there is a huge age difference between them, but I don’t mind the age difference at all. What I cared about was how they really and truly felt about each other. Believe me there are a lot of feelings and denying of feelings flying around. I swear if they were frustrated, I was frustrated. If they were upset, I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach. When things are right in their world, I was totally content and I just knew how this was going to go. Wrong Renee’. Oh so very wrong. There is so much that goes on in the book. A lot of lust, love, evil mother, caring dad, a love that should never happen but they are helpless to stop…..and then….well, your going to have to read to find out what it is.

I will tell you that I am excited to see what happens in the second book and would love to have it in my hands now. This book will capture your heart and keep it even after you have closed the book.

About the Author

For as long as she can remember, Max has always had a love of the macabre and thought provoking side to life.

Which probably stands to reason why each of her books takes the reader on an emotional journey that not only promises twists, turns, and suspense, but a heart-wrenching journey where her motto holds true:

Love never comes easy.

When she’s not lost in an alternate world – fuelled by coffee and the odd sneaky bowl of chocolate (preferably M&Ms) – she spends her days as a wife to a dedicated husband, mother to two rambunctious boys, and an obsessive petrolhead enjoying the muscle on display at the local car shows.
