A childhood crush who moved away. An adult love that shattered her world. Twenty-seven year old Mackenzie Tillson hasn’t been living for quite some time, rather, just existing. Life is passing her by and even with the love of her friends and family she can’t quite seem to snap out of the disconnected bubble she has created around her. Moving day by day as a shell of a person who once knew what it meant to live.
Until one day, the boy who first had her heart comes back. With a vengeance…Drew Dean has been apart from the girl he loved all of those years ago for far too long and now that fate has provided them with a second chance, he will make it clear to her that she is, and always has been the one for him. But what Drew discovers in the process, is Mackenzie may just end up being completely unreachable.
Is it possible to get through to someone who has no intentions of ever letting anyone in again? Can a person find their way through the darkness and emptiness they’ve created? For Mackenzie, trudging along in life alone is where she feels she deserves to be. But will she find it in her to fight and break the barrier of the internal distorted view she has of herself? Or will she let everyone and everything slip away?
As Mackenzie tries to piece together the remnants of her shattered existence, she inadvertently discovers life, love and loss are one in the same. A hopeful journey to be taken with an ending to fill the emptiness she’s carried for too long.

REVIEW 4.5 hearts
I was given the ARC in return for an honest review.
I was a little worried going into the story because it bugs me when the female character is damaged and complains about it but never does anything to fix the situation. That was thankfully not the case in this book. Mackenzie Tillson has been broken and I love how in the story she has people around to support her and help her but it really came down to her fixing herself. I loved when she staired in the mirror and it hit her.
“I’ve been thinking of every scenario and situation with Wes that brought me to the point of despising my existence, it just…clicked. Fuck Him.”
I loved the writing and the way you were brought in on what exactly happened to break Mackenzie a little at a time. She also wrote the characters in a way that drew you to them. I felt like part of the group and I got emotionally involved in all that was going on with the group.
I love how Cass, Ade, and Kip are all trying to be there for her and you can tell it kills them but they aren’t going to let her completely slip away from them, Then walks in Jax and Drew and everything changes. I really enjoyed the carefree and easy way that Jax and Mackenzie are with each other. Drew is so cheesey it sweet he remembers everything from when they were young like the their song from the dance he took her to.
Wes is one of those characters that I hated. I wanted to hurt him for the way be acted towards Mackenzie. He is such a jerk and nobody deserves to be treated the way he treated her.
So Mackenzie was starting to come around and find happiness when another bomb was dropped on her. Can she get past the bomb and find her true happiness?
