This is a m/m romance but so much more than that I thought. I really is a family affair. There is also more going on than just Canyon wanting his revenge on his father for breaking their family apart. His dad is engaged to be married to another man. That man also has a son the same age as Canyon and he thinks that the best way to get revenge for the damage that all this caused to his family is to go after Alis. The golden child, or so that is what Canyon thinks. He is willing to do anything, because he has a mom who is destroyed or so he thinks. There is a lot going on in this book and I am so afraid I am going to say something that would be a spoiler and me not mean to do that. I went into this book blind. I just knew that it was a m/m romance and that it was about revenge. I think that is the best way to go into this book. I loved these characters. Canyon is all cocky jock who is out for revenge while Alis might be this track star that excels in violin and has a dad that really loves him, he is this insecure guy who is terrified that his dad is going to kick him out and not love him anymore if he doesn’t make the best grades, run the fastest in a race and so on. I really felt so sorry for him that it broke my heart for him because he really has a dark past that just tore my heart out. However Alis is getting these strange texts and you have the entire mystery of who is sending these texts to him going on. Canyon is a great guy that is just out for revenge and is blinded by it. He will do anything to get that revenge even if it means leaving football to run track, lose his girlfriend, heck even talk to his dad again which is something he hasn’t been doing. But there are things going on in his house that he isn’t even aware of and all he wants more than anything is revenge and for his family to be ok again after what their dad did. This is a story of discovery of exactly who you are and what you think is important suddenly isn’t anymore. Secrets can hide in the places you least expect them. You think you might know someone and their heart but do you really? You’re going to love all these characters I don’t think I didn’t like a single one of them. Maybe not so thrilled with Canyon’s mom but don’t give up on the woman. I don’t think there was a thing that I didn’t love about his story. It is one of the best m/m romances I have read in a long time. I loved everything about it and was so sad to see the story end.
