Renee’s Five Star Review

King of Corium is a dark bully romance that is set in a exclusive boarding school and it will contain dark themes that might hold triggers for some people. Read the warning in the beginning of the book and heed them. This is the first book in this new series so there is a cliffhanger but usually the writing Duo of J.L. Beck and C. Hallman do not make you wait to long for the next book.

Welcome to Corium. A school for the kids of the most notorious, corrupt and vile parents the world has ever known. They come here to learn new skills and to sharpen up on others, or maybe they come to hide or to excel. Everyone that goes to this school is fair games it seems like but especially Aspen. The girl is suffering for the things her father has done and that really isn’t fair if you ask me. The poor girl kept her head down and would sometimes pray for the very floor to swallow her whole. She doesn’t look people in the eyes and really really wanted to just go unnoticed. But that isn’t going to happen. There is blood in the water and the sharks are hungry. Especially when you have a father who has done things and people want to make you pay for his sins. That shark I was talking about comes in the form of Quinton, her fathers number one enemies son. I swear the girl can’t catch a break. Her Mom sent her to Corium thinking that it would be a save haven away from the clutches of her husbands enemies. However she basically threw her into the deep end with no way to get out without even knowing it. When everyone wants you dead that is really no save place for you especially here and especially with Quinton there. After all he is his father’s son and I thought in my head about fifty times that this kid is the spawn of Satan himself. He is more than determined to make Aspen pay. One cruel word at a time. He is going to break her if it is the last thing he does. He is out to make her life a living nightmare and when this guys on a mission he does not let it go at all.
I really loved Aspen and I really really wanted to steal her out of this book and make her life what it should have been from the get go. She can’t help who her father is and I just didn’t want this sweet, really strong girl to suffer. I wanted to jump in the book and save her. I mean come one, no one ever deserves the cruelty of Quinton. The guy is a pro at torturing with is words and actions. You will want to just smack this guy in the face or other places he might find precious. He’s a really great villain that I just don’t know what to do with in my mind. Because as cruel as the guy is he is equally as smoking hot. I could gush about this book for a while but I will be quiet. I don’t want to give anything away but I will tell you since I already said that there was a cliffhanger at the end that I thought it was a cruel as Quinton. Hold on tight because its a rough ride at the end. But please don’t let that stop you from reading. I just don’t know any other words to describe how that cliff made me feel. Here is hoping that book two is right around the corner because I have so many questions and I need the answers like yesterday really.
