King of Spades by Alta Hensley Release and Review

King of Spades is the first book in the Black Spades Trilogy. This is a dark romance book and might contain triggers for some readers so you will want to heed the warning as their might be triggers in this book that will affect some readers. If you read The White Rabbit then this is the book you have been waiting for to find out much much more. I know that when I closed The White Rabbit I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I couldn’t wait to dive in to the King of Spades and it did not disappoint at all. If you haven’t read The White Rabbit, don’t fret because it is in the beginning of the book. If you have and don’t want to read it again just follow the instruction and you can skip right to the beginning of King of Spades. I was so happy to back with Lyriope Bailey who is really a Morelli by birth but her father Brant Morelli has never had anything to do with her. I don’t even know if the man knows or he knows and chooses to not acknowledge that he knows. Lyriope is in a mess and her mother has left town, or more like fled town and left her owing a lot of money and homeless. She know that someone is coming after her for the money but one fateful night she is offered a way out of a party and safety while at the party by none other than Nick Hudson who is as deadly as he is good looking. He has a reputation of knowing things. Secret things and isn’t’ afraid to use his knowledge as a weapon. That night Lyriope wanted to go to his place called Wonderland and he said she wasn’t ready to be in his secret world. But now there is a party and thanks to the help of her cousin/friend Sasha, she is her guest and makes an appearance in the one place he told he didn’t want her in. But she needs help and is desperate for it and knows that Nick is her only hope. However the man does no do favors for anyone. Ever! His protection comes with a price and it’s usually a really high price. In this case it is her body and the thing she has held most sacred for as long as she has been born. I was so hooked on this book! I didn’t lay it down except of when I got so sleepy I couldn’t see straight. I loved Lyriope and Nick. I loved how she wasn’t afraid of him when in reality she might should have considered running in the other direction and I loved about him that under all that whatever you wanna call it he head a heart for Lyriope. I could gush on and on about this book but don’t want to give anything away about it. I so can not wait to have the next one in my hot little hands.
