Release Date: May 31

He’s the devil. And she’s his wicked game.

Halen:

They say eyes are the windows to the soul—but when he looks at me through hues of slate-green and flaring blue embers, I’m terrified of what’s watching me from behind his clashing gaze, something primal and feverish that threatens to melt me like fire in ice.

I fear falling into Kallum Locke’s pitch-black soul.

But after I’m called to a crime scene to investigate the most gruesome act of violence to descend on the legendary town of Hollow’s Row, I have no choice but to turn to Kallum, to the man I had locked away in an asylum for the criminally insane.

He’s the leading expert on all things Nietzsche and occult. And now, to get answers, I’m forced to make a deal with the devil himself.

Kallum:

Really, eyes are the windows to the soul? Then I wonder what little Halen St. James thinks of all the cryptic eyes watching her in the killing fields… I wonder if the hairs on her delicate nape lifted away, if a thrilling shiver raced over her soft skin. She’s desperate for the answer, and she’ll do anything to uncover it—even make a deal with me, dangling freedom like bait on a hook.

But she’s far more tempting to sink my teeth into than any lure.

And the pain will taste twice as sweet.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is a dark book and you need to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It will contains triggers for some readers.
I have to say that this book will leave you reeling in what the actual heck did I just read kind of fogs for days. That’s not a bad thing though. I love when that happens. If you have read some of Trisha Wolfe’s books before than you know that she has a really brilliant twisted up mess with your mind kind of mind. If you have never read her before then you are in for a mind blowing experience.
This is the first book in the Hollow’s Row series. It is the story of Halen St. James and Kallum Locke. She is a criminal psychological profiler and is obsessed with catching the Harbinger killer who really messes his victims up and then leave a message on them with some message that is something like Don’t be the reason someone else doesn’t smile today. The kind of messages made me think of a calendar with a saying of the day on it for inspiration.
Now she finds herself in the small Gothic town that is surrounded in mystery. The town has a history of thirty three disappearances in a single day. When body parts are found in certain ways and things start seeming like cult sacrifices she knows there is only one person in the world that is an expect and can help her solve this case or cases and he is the man she had sent to a asylum after being convicted of murder. He is a Philosophy professor and the only person who can help her. But will he?
I’m telling you now that this book brings to life the crimes that are at times really gory and not lacking in details and some of them really shocked me. Halen is a woman who is struggling with her own grief and to do that she has focused on solving the bizarre cases. She is really smart and has a stronger stomach for the things she sees than I ever would. Kallum is a mast manipulator and really in truth is super smart. Maybe to smart for his own good. He is really good at giving you an answer that makes more questions pop up than answers. He is also attracted to Halen’s pain and beauty as much as she is attracted to his stunning good looks and messed up mind. These two would certainly make for an interesting pair if he wasn’t locked away in a asylum. This story is told in only a way that Trisha Wolfe can weave a story that has you questioning everything and just when you think you might have a little bit of how its going to go settled in your mind the rug gets pulled right out from under you and your back at guessing again and never getting it right. If you like you books creepy, gory, steamy and messed up as all get out then you do not want to miss Lovely Bad Things.
