Virginia’s Review
Mass Casualty is different than the books I usually read but I am so glad I read it!
The characters in Mass Casualty are paramedics so we have medical issues and talk, emergency situations, and casualties. But we also have romance, drama, action, suspense, and some twists and turns. This book has it all!
It’s well written and the fast pace and action totally keep you on the edge of your seat and interested in the story. The dialogue between the characters is great and made me fall in love with them all. It’s serious at times but it’s also witty at times. It’s the perfect blend of everything.
Derek has written some pretty great characters that are ones you would like to know in real life. They are well developed and all a great addition to the story.
Be prepared to have your emotions all over the place. Your heart will be racing one moment and swooning the next. You will laugh, you will feel sad, you will smile, you will root for it all to be ok.
One of the things that I really liked about this story is that Derek was able to apply real life experiences to it. The scenes were realistic and touching; often scary and sad. But they are real life. With that, I have gained a greater appreciation for those who work in the paramedic field in real life. It’s not an easy job at all and those who do it are brave in more than one way.
