When it came to Romeo and Juliet, a kiss was never just a kiss.

The Brotherhood.

There was only one way in and one way out: death.

Power.

That was the code we lived by. It was like a religion in our world. Men would fight for it. Die for it. Kill for it.

Sacrifice.

It was a way of life. Family. Freedom. Our very souls. Everything we had came at a price.

Love.

That was the biggest illusion of all.

I f*cked up and fell in love with the enemy. She’s too good for me, too good for this world I’ve been bred to conquer. But I couldn’t stay away. When I was near her, the monster beneath the surface begged to be set free.

She was untainted. I wanted to desecrate her.
She was flawless. I wanted to ruin her.
She was light. I wanted to drag her into the darkness.
She was forbidden. I took her anyway.
I crossed a line and started a war. Both of our families were out for blood.
The only question is, who will bleed first?
*This is book one in a series but may be read as a standalone. No cliffhanger. Please read content warning.*

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book form the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Holy cow guys!!!! I should tell you to find the most comfortable place you like to read and make sure the edge of it is super comfortable because you are going to spend a lot of your time there. In Crestview Regatta, there is a night that is dedicated to Mischief. A whole lot of things happen on this night and I can’t even begin to give it justice like the author did. In the mean time you have the young kids who consist of Caspian Donahue and Tatum Harrington who find a great friendship in the chaos with Lyric. But of course on of them, Tatum has to get a little to curious for his own good and wants to know everything that is hiding in the dark of night on Mischief Night. The rituals, the bonfires the boats and the dreams. I don’t even know if that makes any sense to anyone. I am trying to write this review and then erasing sentences because I am afraid that I might say something that I really shouldn’t be saying. However when Tatum never ever listens and as her self appointed savior Caspian has his job really cut out for him. The girl is like a literal magnet for trouble and the worst kind of trouble at that and always right smack dab in the middle of it. That is never a good thing in this world and Caspian just might have to become the monster in the dark to protect her from it. After all the guy is groomed by his father and a monster is what he wanted him to be following in his footsteps. The guy sure is one heck of a alpha-hole and what I found beyond refreshing about this book was that I always knew why he was being the way he was and the reason behind it. I hate when you just have to chalk up an alphas actions to oh well that is just the way he is and it is what it is. So I can say to you that I love the way these characters are written and all of the information is like being inside there head and I really loved that about Delany Fosters magical way of writing these characters. There is so so much more I could say about Tatum and Caspian but if I do then I’m going to really get on a roll and talk your head off and tell you things you do not need to know. This is when buddy reading is really a great thing because you can say oh my gosh did you see what happened!!! I love when I have someone to share what I have read with It just makes reading so much fun and I love that about reading and this is one that you could definitely talk about for days and days to come. I have the best biggest book hangover right now but I am no doubt very thankful for this book giving it to me!!

Renee Henson has an obsession with reading and reviewing. Especially anything that is a dark romance, fairy tale retelling, MC, and is trying her best to love the PNR worlds. Nothing is quiet as exciting to her as reading a good book and then talking about it or making comments while reading with her friends that have read the book too. She is always happiest with her kindle in her hand and her nose is a book. She has been reviewing for Stephanie's Book Reports for over ten years.
