synopsis

She’s always craved his touch…even though it’s forbidden.

When Ash is assigned her first feature as a reporter, it should have been simple: interview a real life Dominant for an article about BDSM. But her subject is none other than Darien Gallagher, her best friend’s stepfather…and it’ll be an interview she never forgets.

What started for Dare as a lesson in sensual domination suddenly has become so much more. He can’t deny the spark between them, even though he knows she’s completely off limits. With every seductive word, every lesson, Dare tests Ash’s resolve and pushes her boundaries. But at the same time, her boss Adam has her craving things she shouldn’t.

While Ash finds herself dreaming of both men, a dark secret threatens to destroy everything. But how can she hold onto a relationship that isn’t even real?

Renee’s Review:

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports

My Best Friends Stepfather by Opal Carew was originally published as three novellas. In this book you get the complete story of Ashely, Adam, and Dare.

Ashley is working for one of her best friends Adam on a magazine. She young, beautiful, and  full of life. Ashley has come up with a special  interest piece for the magazine. Her research involving a Dom who is going to explain the lifestyle to her. Ashley also is carrying around a pretty intense crush on Adam, her boss and best friend. Will she and Adam ever become a couple or will the Dom fall for Ashely as well?

Adam. Ashley’s best friend and boss at the magazine. He’s had a crush on Ashely since the first time he saw her when he was in his twenties and she was sixteen. Adam is also Ashely’s brothers best friend. Adam is successful and serious about the magazine and hasn’t really been in a relationship since college when his heart was shattered. His heartbreak is something he never has explained to Ashely. He doesn’t talk about it ever. Can he and Ashely get pat that major obstacle and be happy together and build a future?

Dare. A serious millionaire business man in town for several months before returning to New York. An exceptional Dom, he has agreed to help Ashley with her special interest piece for the magazine. He knows Ashley well as she spent many hours with his stepdaughter Helen at his house. Dare, however is no longer married to Helens mother and therefore technically not her stepfather anymore. He does however feel sorry for and responsible for Helens well being as she has been abandoned by everyone. When he sees Ashley again the attraction between the two is instantaneous. Will Ashely fall for Dare and if so would a relationship even be possible?

What happens when you fall in love with two men at the same time for totally different reasons? Could you pick between two men you loved? What will Ashley do.

I really loved this story. All three of the main characters Ashely, Adam, and Dare are all well developed throughout the book. It’s written in a way that you get to read from all three points of view. I love when a book has multiples points of view and is written in a way that not confusing to the readers. Opal Carew does an excellent job with this aspect of the book. The story has twists and turns and secrets I never saw coming and I also enjoy a book that keeps me on my toes. It’s a story about love, loss, regrets, and healing.  I loved every second of this book and am actually going to miss Ashley, Adam, and Dare. They were such fun character to get to spend time with.
