(The High Council Witch Chronicles)
Publication date: April 12th 2022
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
When Mae Kingsley is forced to move into her family’s rundown lake house, she discovers small town living is not as simple as it seems. Bursts of violence, silent treatments, archaic rituals and two very cute guys with seriously mysterious motives all appear with the rising of the new moon.
But that’s nothing compared to the family secrets soon to be revealed. A box sealed in a vault, hidden rooms, naked swimming. There’s a trove of family revelations just beneath the floorboards, waiting to be exposed.
As the paranormal bonding season for the High Council Witches begins, Mae must quickly decide who to trust and who to fear before a deadly family tradition repeats itself and her chance to live a normal life completely disappears.
Stephanie’s 3 Star Review:
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
There’s a lot going on in this first book of a new series. So Mae and her Aunt Abeline moved around a lot until Mae comes to an age where she needs to be in their home town of Plumpkin. Mae didn’t know the family had lived there as her mother and aunt grew up. She just thought it was a sleepy little town where they went on weekend vacations here and there.
Well now that they’re settling down in the town things keep happening and her aunt is asking weird. The one thing that will drive you crazy is the aunt doesn’t tell Mae anything about what’s going on with Mae. She has no idea she was potentially born a witch and has to find her mate and quickly. There’s some stuff going on with this secret High Witch Council – that I’m sure we’ll learn more about as the series progresses.
It will be interesting to see where the author takes this series and Mae along with her friends. I think the whole town is about to be shook up. Which may or may not be a good thing.
