Taylor

I promised myself sophomore year of college was going to be the year I truly let myself experience life. I never imagined that mindset would lead me down this dark, dangerous path.

Directly into the Illicit Brotherhood.

I’m brought into a world filled with the perfect mixture of danger and pleasure.

Maybe that’s why I find him so intoxicating.

When my quiet life erupts into chaos, and loyalty is tested, I’m left wondering if he will choose me or the Brotherhood?

Steffan

Bloodshed.

Threats.

Broken alliances.

Being a part of the Illicit Brotherhood we’re trained to be prepared for anything. Our college experience is a study in torture and a degree in murder. Loyalty over everything. We’re supposed to protect our own, but when she comes into our world, she may be my one exception.

I only wonder when she finds out who I really am, will she choose me or destroy me?

Death is coming. No one is Safe.

Renee’s Five Star Review
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
I don’t even really know how to review this book. There is so much going on in this book and I just wow!!!! Trust me that is a good wow!! I guess I can tell you a few thing but I will tell you there is a huge who done it and a who is this guy in this book and it will absolutely blow your mind when this book ends. I think I am still shocked. I knew he was coming but…..like I said mind blown. Taylor is a girl who comes from a small town in Mississippi (goodness I hope I got that right, or I could be wrong on the state). College in Alabama is supposed to be her escape and her chance to live her life since she has what sounds like very controlling, super religious parents. She’s been shelter but she did have a boyfriend back before college that she refuses to even think his name because she was traumatized by him and glad to be away. As far as she is concerned she is happy to be away from both of them really. The book says she doesn’t go home because she doesn’t want to know anything or chance seeing he who shall not be named and her parents. Now is her time to live and she is trying her best to do it. She finally gets to experience a party and she really had no idea what kind of frat house she is walking in to and things get very interesting really quick for her but there is a mystery to who she shared some things with that night. For a year she has been looking for the guy with the most beautiful turquoise eyes, and he finally walks into the library one day where she works and does not even acknowledge her. Steffan is the guy and he is also the president of the Fraternity Taylor went to that fateful Halloween night. He carries a lot of responsibility as he will one day take over the Illicit Brotherhood and it is his responsibility to do a lot of illegal things, take care of people who betray them, and train I guess is what I should call it all the guys in the frat. You see they are not a normal fraternity. You won’t find a chapter of this fraternity at any other college in the world and the scrubs are the kids that come in that belong to members of the Illicit Brotherhood and this essentially to be trained and work for the brotherhood at the same time. The book explains all this way way better than I ever could. When Steffan sees Taylor for the first time after the Halloween party that turned the university upside down a year later he doesn’t recognize her and this upsets and confuses him and he can’t for the life figure out why she treats him this way and he is very very interested in her. She makes him feel things and that a strange thing for a guy like him. I think that is about all I can tell you. I will say some things you might figure out and will just know and others you’re going to close this book still not knowing and having a lot of questions. But I am telling you that cliffhanger is excellently done. I know, I know people hate cliffhangers but I have never minded because I know that I get more of the story to come and I can sit and wait with bated breath on the next book in this series to come out.

This book is co-written by Gail Harris and Ashton Brooks and I have to say too that these are knew authors for me. I don’t think I have read a book by either one of them. Now I am all shame on me for that. I will be looking in to their full catalogs and I am sure reading some of their books. I love how you can not tell who was writing what chapter and I know I just admitted to not reading them individually but I can tell that you can’t tell from the way the book flows and it never feels like two people have written this book. This is a book that you do not want to miss!!! I should add that there might be some triggers for some readers so heed the warning but this is one of the best books I have read so far this year. I am hooked and can’t wait for more!!!!

Gail Haris & Ashton Brooks 2 (1)

AM Brooks is an author with a variety of stories; Contemporary Romance, New Adult, and mature YA. Her writing style is suspenseful and sometimes leads to heart-wrenching conclusions. With a background in forensic psychology she really goes for those investigative, dark and twisty feels. And of course, lots of love!

Brooks enjoys reading as much as writing. Television shows such as Criminal Minds, Scandal, and One Tree Hill are her go-to binge worthy series. She loves spending time with her friends and family with a good glass of beer or wine. If she isn’t reading or writing, Brooks is Pinteresting future home projects for her wonderful husband to accomplish.

Gail Haris believes in fairytales, love, and laughter as the best medicine. However, she enjoys writing. murders, laughter, and steamy happily ever afters.

She loves living in her small town in Southeast Missouri, and then taking adventures all over the world with her two wild and fierce princesses and Boo Bear aka her ultimate real-life book boyfriend and. high school sweetheart, Bobby.

When she’s not getting into mischief or scheming with her two girls, she’s busy coming up with crazy scenarios for her characters. Using coffee and her imagination, Gail writes contemporary romances that blend laughter and true love out of everyday chaos while incorporating her warped sense of humor and awkward charm. She writes in a variety of genres, including romantic comedy, romantic suspense, and new adult/coming of age romance.

Hopefully, by following her own dream of becoming an author, she can be an example to her daughters that dreams can become a reality.

Never stop believing in love, dreams, and yourself. And coffee…don’t forget the coffee and books.
