Author : Lily Freeman
With no explanation, no goodbyes; she walked away from one life, to start another.
Now based in London, she has a home: new friends, a new dog and – a Master. Luke Monroe is everything she never knew she wanted: dominant, sexy, passionate, and a sadist.
As their relationship develops, with her giving a little and him taking a lot, PJ is forced to explore the side of Luke she’s always found disconcerting, all under the watchful eyes of her neighbors Mika and Elliot, the other two men who have come to mean so much to her.
But at what price?
When tensions mount between the three unquestionably alpha males, PJ’s caught in the middle. With Luke’s demands intensifying, Elliot’s possessive behaviour becoming more and more evident, and Mika, always her soft place to fall, claiming a little more of her heart each day, she’s torn. She’s already learnt the hard way that love can hurt, and she thought she knew how much, but nothing could have prepared her for this.
‘Fire in the Blood’ is the second book in ‘The Red Series.’ It is not a stand-alone novel, and I would highly recommend that if you intend to read it, you read ‘A Little Band of Red’ first.Although both are part of a larger series, the first three novels have been written as a complete trilogy, concluding with ‘To Catch a Flame’, due out in December 2016.
With that in mind, not all of your questions will be answered or all hearts mended. But I promise, in the end they will.
Warning: ‘Fire in the Blood’ includes m/f, m/m and m/m/f scenes as well as a darker event containing violence and elements of non-consent.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Fire In The Blood is the second book in Lily Freeman’s Red Series. You must read A Little Band Of Red before Fire In The Blood.
PJ walked away from her old life eight weeks ago to start a new life in London. She has a new home, amazing neighbors, new friends and a Master. Luke the Master she met at a BDSM Club. The Master who has lied to her about wanting a real connection and not all the pain that he like to dole out. He’s pushing PJ, trying to prove to her she can handle mor pain than she thinks. He’s the sadist and she’s his masochist in his mind. He will stop at nothing and refuses to lose PJ. PJ though can’t handle Luke and his lies and mind games. With the help of her neighbors, Mika and Elliot, PJ once again finds herself in a place of failure facing why she’s not good enough for someone. PJ already knows love can hurt, and she thought she know how much, but nothing could have prepared her for what’s about to come.
This book is absolutely a dark and twisted tale at times. PJ found her strength and finally woke to realize what everyone had been warning her about snd Luke is slowly losing his mind. To say Luke is terrifying to me is an understatement. He’s a character I’ve hated since the first time he pushed PJ in A Little Band Of Red. He absolutely is down right terrifying to me and my poor heart was in my throat a lot of the time in this book. PJ’s neighbors are some of the main characters in this book and I love them. I’m glad we got to know more abut them and I can’t wait to see what happens between them and PJ. Throw in the story of PJ’s best fiend Indy and who is trying to destroy her life and you have one interesting read.
Be forewarned, this is the second book in a series of three. Do not expect your questions answered. I still couldn’t give this book five stars for the same reason as I couldn’t A Thin Red Line. While there aren’t as many charters to keep up with in this book there is still a lot happening. The way the book switches from one characters thoughts to another with no indication it is happening has you back tracking to make sure your still with the thoughts you thought you were reading and I knew to pay super close attention. A little line or symbol before switching, anything to indicate something different is happening, would make a huge difference for a reader. I’m dying to know though how this series concludes in To Catch A Flame. December needs to hurry up so I can find out how this all gets settled.
**Carla’s Three Star Review
This is the second book in The Red Series, and it is the continuation of PJ’s story.
This book picks up right where A Little Band of Red left off. PJ is trying to decide if she can ever be the submissive that Luke wants. When Luke pushes her too far, she wants out. To say that Luke doesn’t respond well to the fall out that his actions have caused would be a huge understatement. As PJ is taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions, she finds comfort in her neighbors, Mika and Elliott. However, they too have secrets of their own, and the revelation of those secrets have the power to be a real game changer for everyone involved.
Let me warn you-this is not a light and fluffy read. Some of the scenes are difficult to read, and the sexual tension in this book is thick enough to cut with a knife. Also, keep in mind, this isn’t the last book in the series, so everything isn’t all tied up nice and neat in a bow. With that said, the ending is sure to leave you desperately wanting to get your hands on the final book, To Catch a Flame, that is set to be released in December 2016.
