As I have said before I am not much for reading the synopsis of a book before I jump in. With this one all I saw was hot firefighter and I was like “I’m in”. I grew up around firefighters so I think hot firefighters will always have a special place in my heart. With that being said I loved that this story is about so much more than a girl falling for a hunky firefighter. It has a deeper story that I have very rarely seen in a book.
Sam is HOT like sex oozing out his pores hot but he is also sensitive. He is a single father who is very caring and loving. The sensitive side of Sam made him even hotter in my opinion. He is a hero at work and at home. He saves a dog for crying out loud (swoon)!
Rachel is a single mom who lives across from Sam. She is an awesome mom and she works from home to be with her daughter. She is also a very strong woman because she is living with HIV and she is an advocate for people with HIV/AIDS. I was so angry by the way people in this town acted towards her when they found out. I know that is how it truly is in the world today and the ignorance makes me sick. I loved how the book talked about perceptions being reality and changing them. I loved how Rachel blossomed within herself to work on changing perceptions in this book. I love that the author took on this subject and showcased what the reality is.
Sam & Rachel have this intense connection from the beginning and their daughters love each other but they have struggles with the relationship due to communication and coming to terms with what it would be like to be in a relationship when HIV is involved. Can they get past these issue? Get the book and see 🙂
