Review
For a second book in a series, I thought the author did very well with transitioning from the prior book to this one. Some lingering questions I had prior was answered, but more importantly, I am left with new, more intriguing questions that makes me anxious to get book three. I strongly advise you to read each book in order, because you will need the facts of the past to make sense of the present.
I have always been a fan of stories where good is fighting evil, but this series takes it to a much higher level with God’s angels fighting Satan’s minions, the force of both sides is powerful enough to shatter the world as we know it. Watching each side navigate and analyze the situation at hand was intense. The war was sure to come, but who wanted to be the first to pull the trigger?
As with any war, there is always collateral damage and this series doesn’t spare your heart. We first met Nina Luther is a Mortal Angel, she heals and calms behind the scenes, but to the world she is a sweet young lady who is in love with Chase James. Chase’s life is much more complicated, he is a lost soul, with the battle of angels and demons battling for his soul. As they try to make their relationship work, Nina is overwhelmed with Chase’s changing moods and the power he has over her. Chase’s life has become exhausting, while the good fights for him to do what is right, the evil forces him to cross boundaries and break rules so Satan can win this battle in the war.
The first few chapters were slower for me than I would have liked, but I saw the purpose of the author doing it this way. Details and description of each scene is so advance and vivid, I found I was grateful for the slow burn in the beginning so I could refresh myself with the intricacy of this story. By midway, the action was fast, events and details were coming at you with rapid speed, making a very suspenseful and enjoyable read.
The best part of this series is how the author invites you to think about good versus evil in your own life. What would you do if you were Chase, living with angels and demons battling for your soul, no control of your own thoughts unless you are willing to join the war and fight for your life. Nina, how could such a sweet girl who wants to heal, stand by and know she has no control over saving the man she loves. She knows her parents would help if she could tell, but it wasn’t her story to spill.
I highly recommend this series to any reader who loves to analyze, think and mentally debate a plot. It is also a great read for the enjoyment factor, but I think you might miss out on a huge gift from the author if you aren’t willing to give it as much mental investment as the author did while writing it.
I was given this Ebook for an honest review
