Carla’s Review:
4 stars for All I Want for Christmas is You by Jessica Scott. If you are
looking for a good, quick read, you should give this novella a try!
It is the Christmas season, and the only thing Major Patrick Maclane is
feeling is heart ache. The love of his life, Captain Samantha Egan, has
returned from the war a broken woman. She has broken up with him and
returned to her hometown of Maine with their daughter. As a result,
Patrick is spending this joyful season at the bottom of a bottle has given
up all hope of saving his relationship. However, everything changes when
he gets a phone call from his daughter, Natalie. Even though she is not
his biological child, he has been her dad since the day she was born, and
he would do anything for her. When Natalie informs him that she is worried
about her mother, he decides to go to Maine and fight to get his family
back.
I really enjoyed this story, Jessica Scott shines a light on PTSD and the
vast array of emotions that many veterans experience when they return
home. Kudos to her for a job well done. *I was given a copy of this book
as a gift from Stephanie’s Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.
