synopsis

Scotch LaHague, an aide to a powerful congressman in Washington, D.C., is desperate for something, or someone, to change his life. Bored with his work and disillusioned by the petty politics and self-serving relationships that surround him in the nation’s capital, he knows that he must make a change—before Washington changes him.
When the congressman sends him on an official business trip to Paris, Scotch hopes that the City of Lights will give him a reprieve from his mundane Washington existence. That’s where he meets her—a beautiful and mysterious young woman whose sad and penetrating eyes seem to reach into his soul. As he draws closer to her while exploring the streets and cafes of Paris, he discovers the reason for her mystery: she is running for her life.
Scotch wants desperately to help her, sensing that somehow, in saving her, he may also save himself. But doing so places him squarely in the cross-hairs of an international terrorist organization that will stop at nothing to fulfill its devious mission. How far is Scotch willing to go and what is he willing to risk to keep the young woman safe—and possibly, in the process, stop a terrorist attack?

Bruce Buckingham spent several years working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., as a senior legislative assistant for a newly elected congressman from Florida. During this time Buckingham witnessed firsthand the inside workings of the U.S. Congress — the good and, unfortunately, the not so good.

Several years later, he decided to move back to his home on the east coast of Florida taking a job at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center as News Chief and primary spokesman for the Agency at KSC. In his role as the “voice of NASA launch control” for the U.S. Space Shuttle Program and other NASA expendable rocket launches, he was NASA’s front man for the media during high-profile events such as the Columbia accident (2003), the subsequent investigations, and return-to-flight activities. (He served as KSC’s photo editor during the Challenger accident in 1986.)

Buckingham earned his private pilot’s license at the age of 20 and has traveled extensively through Europe and the Caribbean. He is married to Michele, also a former congressional assistant. They have two grown children, Scott and Kimberly.

Buckingham retired from NASA early in 2013 and lives in Palm Bay, Florida, where he writes fulltime and manages a ministry-based website and non-profit corporation dedicated to the works of his late father, pastor and writer Jamie Buckingham.

Bruce Buckingham recently published a book consisting of the favorite quotes from his father’s works. Thoughts from the Heart of God can be found at www.JamieBuckinghamMinistries.com

The Last Snowman in Paris is Buckingham’s first novel.

Renee’s Five Star Review:

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Scotch LaHague is a aide to a very powerful congressman. He’s burnt out with all he politics  and fake people in his life in Washington, DC and is ready for a change.  A business trip to Paris comes at the perfect time, the perfect getaway from his life. While in Paris Scotch meets Toni and is automatically drawn to her. They explore Paris together where Scotch discovers she is running for her life. He is desperate to save her and at the same time possibly save himself. What he never counted on was ending up in the crosshairs of a international terrorist organization. A organization that will stop at nothing to destroy a NASA space vehicle.

Hold on to your seats ladies and gentleman because The Last Snowman In Paris will have you on the edge of them. I love a good thriller and Bruce Buckingham delivers that and so much more with his  novel. The Last Snowman In Paris reads so beautifully it feels more like you are watching a movie than reading a book. I loved the character of Scotch and the strength of Toni. The world needs more strong female characters. The story left me breathless and second guessing myself at times. The knowledge that Mr Buckingham has in his experiences in life translate beautifully to the pages of his book.

If you love a good thriller that will keep you guessing and in the edge of your seat, The Last Snowman In Paris is the book for you. It’s a definite must read. you won’t be able to out it down.
