Jacque’s Review:
The Misadventures of Me and My Uterus. With this funny title and interesting blurb how could I resist? I have a uterus, I’m heading into that prime time of my life. I hear about hot flashes all the time but never hear about the other ‘fun’ my vajayjay will be inflicting on me as she heads into retirement. So of course I had to grab a copy of this quick read to find out what to expect.
This book had so much potential to be great. The author presents a humorous and honest look at the things us women have to go through in the ‘down there’ region. Her escapades remind me of something Erma Bombeck would have said. Her eye opening experiences where intermixed with laugh out loud moments to give humor to what is a very traumatic event. Unfortunately, the thing that kept breaking the flow for me was the medical information disperses thorough the book. Here I was expecting to read about the author’ s personal experiences – her highs and lows, but unfortunately just when things began to get very interesting I felt like someone thrusting into my hands a medical brochure that I need to read NOW before I could continue on. I understand it probably is a message the author felt she needed to convey, I however was more interested in her personal experiences.
The PSA moments aside, I think The Misadventures of Me and My Uterus was a fun, informative and interesting read. Any woman who as every had a uterus will appreciate the humor in this book.
I received this book from Stephanie’s Book Reports in exchange for my honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
