Everyone thinks of me as this happy and upbeat person. What they don’t know is that I carry a deep, dark secret. Something horrible happened to me a year ago, and I have kept it quiet all this time. I was fine for a while, but somehow it’s chosen this time to come back, and it’s eating at me–like a cancer.

I need to tell someone about it, I just don’t know how. I’m pushing everyone I love away, including my mom and my best friend Charlie.

Then there is Will. Handsome, sweet Will. We went out on a date a while back, but then the incident happened leaving me crushed and him confused.

How do you tell someone you care about all of your secrets, and will they still want you when the truth comes out?

Carla’s Review

All I can say is WOW!! This is a very emotional book that deals with the
act of rape and the healing process that follows.

Tori was once a feisty redhead who took life by the horns.  That all
changed the night that her choices were taken from her.  She withdraws from
everyone around her and simply tries to forget the horrible attack.  After
a year of suffering in silence, she finds the strength not only to face
what happened to her but she also shares her story with others.  She
realizes that by doing this, she will no longer be a victim but a survivor.

What can I say about Will?  I instantly fell in love with him.  He loves
Tori and stands by her side through it all.  He is beyond compassionate,
and his love helps Tori heal.  There is just one problem: Will has a secret
that has the power to destroy what he has worked so hard to build with
Tori.  When the secret is revealed, Tori is crushed, and she must decide if
she will forgive Will or break things off with him.

This was such a powerful and emotional story.  The author is a rape
survivor, so this story reflects her pain and her road to recovery.  I
admire Heather Gunter’s strength and resolve.  I am sure her words will
resonate with each reader, and other rape survivors will find comfort in
her story.  I would highly recommend this book!  It is simply magnificent!

5 Stars!
