Review of Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn

synopsis

On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida.

From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity and a new life in the midst of the gang’s base on the edge of the Florida Everglades—a frightening, rough and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival.

And at the center of it all is the gang’s leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. She becomes his obsession and the one true love of his life.

So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows and forced to lean on the one person who provides attention, affection and care: her captor. Precocious and intelligent, but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity.

Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive—or get out at all? Part psychological thriller, part coming-of-age novel, filled with mystery, romance and unexpected turns, Nine Minutes takes readers into the world of one motorcycle gang and inside the heart of a young girl, whose abduction brought about its fall.

Carla’s Review:

5 outstanding stars for Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn!  When I read the blurb
for this book, I must confess that it didn’t appeal to me at all.  However,
after reading so many five star reviews, I decided to give it a shot, and
boy was I glad I did!  This book is simply phenomenal!

Gin was a 15 yr old girl who really did not have a great home life.  She
wasn’t abused, she just wasn’t wanted by her hippie mother and step dad.
One afternoon, she met a man on a motorcycle in front of a convenience
store not far from her house.  He started up a conversation with her, and
then offered to give her a ride home.  He seemed harmless, so she
accepted.  She was only on the bike for a short time when she realized that
he was not taking her home.  She ends up at a run down motel where a group
of notorious bikers lived.  Gin was given to Grizz, the president of the
gang.  The relationship between a young girl and a much older man might not
sit well with some readers, but  the book was not filled with graphic sex
scenes between the two

This book keeps you on your toes, and the reader is only given limited
information.  Secrets and secrets are revealed that will blow the reader’s
mind.  Grizz ends up in jail, and the secrets just keep coming out.  The
book’s ending will leave you wondering what the hell just happened!  There
is a sneak peek into the next book, and I promise you that it will leave
you anxious for the next book to come out.

If you are a fan of dark, biker books, then you should read this!  This
book drew me in , and I could not put it down.  I just had to know how
everything came together at the end.  Seriously, this is a book that must
go on your to be read list!
It is easily my favorite mc story of the year!  I can’t wait to read Out of
Time, the follow up book to this story.  Hurry up and get that finger one
clicking!
